What's in store today...
The UK North Sea oil and gas industry will remain firmly under the spotlight today as EnQuest (ENQ) takes to the stage.
Inevitably enough, the shock £2 billion tax raid announced on the industry in last month's Budget, has had a negative impact on the group's valuation.
But despite this, analysts have taken a positive view, noting that there's little room for further deterioration with oil prices at a premium.
EnQuest's share price has dropped 10% since the Budget changes were announced (but) we retain our positive view on the stock and expect the company to report strong operational performance.
"Our analysis of the DECC North Sea production data suggests that EnQuest should deliver full-year 2010 average production of close to 20,400 barrels of oil equivalent per day, 2.5% ahead of guidance," said Sanjeev Bahl at Numis.
Next Fifteen Communications (NFC) also updates investors today.
In January, the group said it had made a promising start to the current financial year, with interim results likely to show good organic growth and improved profitability.
The company pointed towards the performance of its US technology and consumer PR businesses as a driving force behind its growth so investors will be keeping a close eye on events across the Pond.
Next Fifteen, which has operations in 19 countries, said 2011 was poised to be a "significant year of growth" with market expectations of double digit profit and revenue growth.
Meanwhile, over on the economic calendar, eyes will be upon the latest service sector activity figures, which are likely to have slowed marginally further in March, after having eased back already in February.
Howard Archer, chief UK and European economist at IHS Global Insight, said: "It appears that services sector activity is being limited by muted consumer spending and it also appears that some service suppliers are already been affected by the cutbacks in government spending."
