Mick Gilligan, head of research at Killik & Co and manager of our hypothetical £100,000 growth portfolio, has made a switch between the normal quarterly review dates.

He has swapped the holding in M&G Global Basics to Veritas Global Equity Income. Graham French, the long-standing manager of M&G Global Basics, handed over the management of the fund to his deputy Randeep Somel at the end of last year.

However, Gilligan says his main rationale for moving from M&G to Veritas Global Equity Income was to reduce his exposure to medium-sized capital-growth companies and increase exposure to value in the larger company universe where he thinks greater opportunities lie.
