FEATURED QUESTION
Does anybody else agree that we've now seen the end of the effects of the credit crunch, and global economies will soon revert to almost 'normality'?

Asked by: TheLocalBoy

I've got a small portfolio of seven or eight holdings totalling around £3,500 and currently held with Selftrade, not in an ISA. I want to sell most and buy into a smaller number of (possibly oil) companies. I'm interested in iii but not sure what is best. I think I pay £12.50 per holding to sell at Selftrade. Is it better to do the entire trade with Selftrade or switch to iii?

Have a starting fund of about £10-15k. I like to monitor a range of stocks very closely. What should my realistic short and medium term goals be with this sum of money?

Hello,

I'm trying to find out which have been the 10 most consistent gainers in the FTSE 100 over the past 10 years. Short of going through all 100 charts and financials, does anyone know of any reesarch into this or how I might find out?

Many Thanks

My partner and I have just sold our house.  Depending on how we split the procedes the interest on our cash could make me a higher tax payer.  If I weight the savings so that I am in theory just £10 into the Higher rate bracket, will all pension contributions I make attract relief at this rate?  Could I then claim back tax paid on my company pension contributions which are taxed at my basic PAYE rate?

A close friend has recd four blocks of UK banking shares from her father's estate - she has offered to transfer them to me at today's value as she needs the cash
today's values are approx £757, £742, £3076 and £3892
I presume I fill in stock transfer forms for each one and send to the Stamp Office with 0.5% of the total value?
Does it matter who lodges the forms - sect 14?
Does the stamp office forward to the registrars?
Any other points I should be aware of?

Why is the pound remaining above the $1.923 support level when every indicator says that it should be nearer $1.88 and sinking below the $1.80 mark in coming months. I cannot understand its strength against the dollar, despite oil etc

Does anybody know what happened to Beaufort International Group plc.  I hold some shares since 2001. The company was temporary suspended of trading in the AIM back in 2006 but can't find any info on them.

On 9 January 2008 ROCHE Holdings  (ROG) delisted from the LSE thus making it impossible to trade my shares.  Can you tell me what has happened to my shares.  Surely they cannot just disappear.  Are they on the Swiss stock exchange.  Do they no longer exist.  M McKinnon

hi, which would be the most cost effective over say twelve months, taking into account the interest you would earn, £10000 shares or the equiv in cfds, spredbetting.
