Current Situation

The company is enjoying renewned vigour in its operations with a posative upbeat in confidence within its team. The results demonstrate a real turnaround in performance.Recognition of this has been acknowledged in the award for best share price recovery/performance in 2009, which was awarded recently. Pendragon as the largest retail Motor Group will always fall victim to criticism as its sheer size attracts opinions both negative and posative....

Motivation

As someone who has experienced being removed from their job to make way for a favoured person who blotted his position elsewhere I am very cynical at how this company play with people's livelihoods and careers ! I was with the company for 5 years without one word of warning about my performance etc However when they needed to slot some one in it was done with utmost proficiency. Yes I was compensated but it still does not replace my savaged career and these guys are still there playing God. Be reassured they do not care about anyone in any business - these regional people play to please the two main men knowing that kowtowing to them will ensure them remaining in their jobs because if you question them you are out. And these guys all cover each other 's backs - the profitable deals are done among them and the bread and butter guys get the crumbs so they are competing against their peers with one hand tied behind their backs. You will still get a ballocking for poor performance and all the time they are trying to get yes people for no money and no bonus....

Re: MOTIVATION

FWIW I suspect the problem with PDG along with most larger companies is that things have been good for so long that they have become inefficient, so inefficient that the process has become king, rather than the customer. Essentially we have put bureaucratic public sector ethos in place in the private sector. All about the quality of the box ticking, rather than the quality of the people. Changing that is painful and not easy to do quickly....

Re: MOTIVATION

Hmm well the other way to look at it, is that all the rubbish staff who couldn't sell anything have been let go. And the reason PDG has posted a small profit in a dire economic environment is that the poor staff have been replaced by those that know what they are doing. Hence the reason there are so many biiter ex-employees posting on here. Of course, that could just be wishful thinking................
