Scottish Mortgage Investment Trust PLC (BE08)

Scottish Mortgage in depth

A good eye for the long term

Scottish Mortgage Investment Trust is a low-cost equity fund which invests on a global basis. Stocks are carefully selected for their strong growth prospects. The Trust aims to outperform world stock market indices over a five year rolling period.

The resolutely global approach taken by Scottish Mortgage is reflected in the current investment themes such as the speed of technological advances and how they can disrupt established business practices, and the re-emergence of China as an economic superpower.

Scottish Mortgage

  • One of the UK’s largest investment trusts with total net assets of over £5.9bn as at 30 June 2017
  • Ongoing charges of only 0.44% as at 31 March 2017
  • Managed by Baillie Gifford, one of the UK’s leading privately owned investment management firms with   over £166bn of funds under management and advice as at 30 June 2017.

Please remember that changing stock market conditions and currency exchange rates will affect the value of investment in the Trust and any income from it. You may not get back the amount invested. Scottish Mortgage invests in emerging markets where difficulties in dealing, settlement and custody could arise, resulting in a negative impact on the value of your investment. The Trust's risk could be increased by its investment in unlisted investments. These assets may be more difficult to buy or sell, so changes in their prices may be greater.
