AUTONOMY DELIVERS COMPREHENSIVE SOLUTION TO ENABLE COMPLIANCE WITH EXTENDED HIPAA REQUIREMENTS New Capabilities in Autonomy iManage WorkSite Enable Law Firms to Meet Federal Data Privacy Regulations Cambridge, UK and SAN FRANCISCO - November 17, 2009 - Autonomy Corporation plc (LSE: AU. or AU.L), a global leader in infrastructure software for the enterprise, today announced new capabilities for its Information Management & Governance offerings that support the data privacy requirements as outlined in the Health Information Technology for Economic and Clinical Health (HITECH) Act. Autonomy iManage Worksite now supports automated encryption of HIPAA regulated information and provides policy-based management to ensure that regulated data is not accidentally disclosed. The American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009 (ARRA) extends the reach of the HIPAA (Health Insurance Portability and Accountability) data privacy requirements to businesses that provide services to the healthcare industry. As a result, entities that perform legal, actuarial, or accounting services must take appropriate steps to prevent the breach of private healthcare data in their possession. In addition to expanding the scope of entities required to comply with HIPAA, the act significantly increases the penalties for breaches and mandates periodic audits of these organizations. The unique meaning-based technology of Autonomy's Intelligent Data Operating Layer (IDOL) provides Worksite users with an automated approach that ensures compliance with these new healthcare data privacy regulations. Some of Worksite's new capabilities that support compliance with this act include:
These new capabilities enable law firms, accounting firms, and government institutions that increasingly deal with healthcare related information to easily comply with the additional HIPAA regulations and avoid significant fines and damage to their reputation. "The complexity and challenges associated with maintaining regulatory compliance are certainly increasing as the amount of healthcare data organizations interact with spirals upward and new laws like the HITECH Act are enacted," said Neil Araujo, CEO of iManage. "Autonomy takes a visionary approach to helping our customers solve these problems - by delivering a unique, meaning-based platform that automatically understands and acts on information. These new capabilities are the first in the industry to address a pressing issue that law firms, accounting firms, and government institutions are dealing with right now." AUTONOMY UNVEILS NEW COLLECTION-TO-THE-CLOUD SOLUTION
FOR EDISCOVERY AND COMPLIANCE Enables Global Organizations to Intelligently Analyze and Collect Content Directly Into the Cloud, Significantly Reducing eDiscovery Risk, Time, and Cost Cambridge, UK and SAN FRANCISCO - November 10, 2009 - Autonomy Corporation plc (LSE: AU. or AU.L), a global leader in infrastructure software for the enterprise, today announced the availability of a next-generation collection solution for eDiscovery and compliance. The solution uses a scalable, distributed model to automatically search, identify, preserve and collect relevant electronically-stored information (ESI) to the cloud from laptops, desktops and more than 400 enterprise repositories, including file and email servers, archives, and Microsoft SharePoint. Collected ESI is then stored in Autonomy's secure, cloud-based archive, enabling organizations to perform defensible and systemized preservation and collection in the shortest amount of time to meet the preservation obligation. This new solution, which is a key part of Autonomy's industry-leading Legal Hold solution suite, enables global organizations to comply with data privacy laws around the world by ensuring that personal data that does not pertain to the legal case will not be collected. Preservation and collection of relevant data is a critical step in the legal hold process, when an organization faces pending litigation or investigation. The new Autonomy collection solution enables global organizations to dramatically reduce both the risks and costs associated with the identification, collection and preservation of ESI, while ensuring compliance with government regulations, such as the U.S. Federal Rules of Civil Procedure (FRCP) and the COBS 11.8 in the U.K. Legacy technologies for preservation and collection of ESI require inefficient manual processes that involve significant personnel and IT investments. These technologies can neither scale nor meet the needs of counsel to quickly preserve, analyze and understand data within the timelines set under the FRCP and other regulations. The challenge of legal hold, preservation and collection is further compounded by a global, distributed workforce, because legacy solutions cannot effectively identify and collect data without a continuous, high-bandwidth connection. In contrast, the new Autonomy collection solution is the first in the industry that allows organizations to intelligently analyze and pre-cull data in-place with advanced conceptual search capability and then collect the relevant data directly to the cloud. It securely identifies data sources, distributes client software, and preserves and collects a forensically sound copy of relevant information directly to Autonomy's secure cloud-based archive, the Digital Safe. With Safe Harbor certification and data centers in both the United States and United Kingdom, Autonomy offers unmatched flexibility in the cloud. "The increasing government regulations for eDiscovery remain a significant driver in all sectors. We have seen more than 40 new regulations that have come into effect in the last 12 months, such as the COBS 11.8 in the U.K," said Mike Lynch, CEO of Autonomy. "Regulators' hard-hitting new rules and hefty sanctions against organizations who do not comply with eDiscovery regulations have fueled demand for legally defensible search, collection, and archiving solutions. With this new announcement, Autonomy is offering the world's first Collection to the Cloud solution that enables organizations to preserve, search and collect all of the relevant ESI in the cloud, saving significant costs and time." Please visit www.autonomy.com/legal-hold for more information on this new Autonomy collection solution. Thanx for that malasco. I tend to agree. I thought that it comps were gonna use the cloud for data related things/ storage etc and while doing it get access to auts search software. Look at walt disneys cloud ideas... could use aut based blinkx software to search the thing etc and only pay for the software while only in the cloud. I thought microsoft at one pt wanted custs to pay for their products in this way. It was to stop illegal copying of software etc I maybe mistakenly though. Comps will be able to use Auts idol software to search legal stuff + wotever etc held in the cloud. Thanx again

Eagle,
I admit that my comments regarding Autonomys origins in legal e-discovery were incorrect, in so far that their discovery products were used on the web prior to their current strength in this market. (Post Some more thoughts 2009-10-29 21:36) Your reply to my post regarding SADIF is however somewhat judgemental to say the least. I made the post because I think that it is as important to discuss potential bad news regarding a stock as much as the upside possibilities. I also highlighted the fact that the report appeared to be comparing apples with pears with regard to the companies that were being used as comparisons. I assume from your disparaging comments in your second paragraph that you have not actually read the report itself, so wonder how you justify your, perhaps xenophobic, judgemental comments in the first paragraph. I was actually looking for some proper referenced feedback on SADIF to understand why they might have come to this conclusion, and this was not forthcoming, so I have done the research myself (DYOR). Their founder (as claimed by the website, http://sadifanalytics.com/stockmarks/aboutus.php) is Prof. Marques Mendes from the University of Coimbra and he is an associate Professor of Economics (http://socialsciences.academickeys.com/browse_whoswho_by_institution/University_of_Coimbra?start=75), runs a law firm (http://whichlawyer.practicallaw.com/which/firmListing.do?poid=:20263579&jurisdictionId=:22467) and was also an MEP (http://www.europarl.europa.eu/members/archive/alphaOrder/view.do?language=EN&id=1614) Of course these are claims by the website, but the facts do tie up and if you want to enter conspiracy theories, one could entertain the notion that they have stolen his identity. In my original post I was far more interested in hearing from someone who had read the actual report, because it may give some insight into why many other analysts are also nervous about Autonomy. I do not take a rose tinted view of Autonomy and if there is potentially bad news about the company, I want to understand why the propagators feel this way so that I can make a measured decision. Personally, as stated in point 5 of my post Some thoughts: 2009-10-27 22:39, I think that companies that are potentially breaking the mould are very difficult for analysts because they do not understand breaking technologies and want the companies to behave like established market players, and want the finances to match accordingly. Likewise with the markets, where there was vast growth in the SP from the low of around 730 in October 2008 to the high of around 1540 at the end of May 2009 only to sink again to 1175 in August 2009 and then rise to 1600 in September. This is a volatile share, and will continue to be so until the markets understand where Lynch is going, or if his vision is wrong, it plummets. Industry feedback is that Autonomy is a very respected leader in a growing market (ie Announcement on Nov 16th awarding IDOL the prestigious Infrastructure Product of the Year award) and that other companies are starting to recognise this and becoming worried. I have faith in Autonomy and would not be making posts if this was not the case, but ask, politely Please do not fire from the hip and if you have comments on postings, and please back your comments with evidence. If you cannot do this, it might be helpful to be a little less judgemental and a little more diplomatic in your replies hopefully resulting in the encouragement of constructive conversation from the various people who view this forum.. Hi Fish,
Take a look at http://www.pcworld.com/businesscenter/article/182472/cloud_wont_do_for_critical_applications_sap_says.html SAP are saying that mission critical applications are unlikely to move to the cloud. With my limited knowledge, I tend to agree, since any risks of loss of access or security to an ERP (Enterprise Resource Planning) system could result in the failure of a company. Early days, and only applicable to mission critical systems. Regarding Autonomy, it cannot ignore the concept of cloud computing, since this is where the IT industry is headed and the use of cloud computing for archiving and retrieval is not necessarily mission critical. Given the size of the business and its technology background, I am confident that it understands these issues. Failure to do so, and leading to a breach of security is enough to significantly damage a company's reputaion in the marketplace and I am sure Autonomy is aware of this Regards Malasco More | View thread (8) | Respond | Login to Vote up | Login to Vote down |
