Appointment of Directors
The Directors of Avisen (the "Board") are pleased to announce that, following its recently completed acquisition of 1Spatial Holdings plc ("1Spatial"), Michael Sanderson and Nic Snape will join the Board as executive directors and Stephen Berry will join the Board as non-executive Chairman with immediate effect.
Mr Steve Berry
Mr Berry has over 30 years international business experience with fast growing private and public companies. He has also held numerous executive and non-executive directorships, including Unison Capital Holdings, one of Japan's largest private equity companies. He is currently Executive Chairman of Waterbridge Capital Ltd., a venture capital management company, focussed on technology and security small cap growth companies. Mr Berry's background is in finance having worked previously in the global capital and securities markets for over 10 years in New York, London and Tokyo for the Bankers Trust Company. This period in international banking was followed by private company venturing, a focus that is retained to the present day. Mr Berry gained an MBA from Harvard Business School in 1979 and a BSc in Economics from the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania in 1976.
Mr Nic Snape
Mr Snape, who will join the Board as Managing Director, has nearly 30 years experience in IT and over 20 years in spatial data marketing, operations and business development. Mr Snape also has 12 years international experience gained in Canada and Malaysia. Mr Snape has a successful track record in high value international sales pursuits and the management of international partners, running the Land Registry campaign in Eire and the OSGB Phoenix Competitive Dialogue process. Mr Snape took over as CEO of 1Spatial in January 2010 having joined the company in 2001, in order to lead a more focussed business approach. In October 2011 he led the successful reverse takeover of IQ Holdings plc to achieve an AIM listing as 1Spatial plc. In spring 2011, Mr Snape negotiated and completed the acquisition of Lagen Spatial Pty Limited, a small Australian software reseller and services company which provided a firm foundation to capitalise on the market opportunity in the Asian Pacific.
Dr Mike Sanderson
Mr Sanderson, who will join the Board as Director of Strategic Development, led 1Spatial between 2001 and December 2009. Mr Sanderson joined 1Spatial with a vision to realise the value locked in the core products, and by working closely with the development team he has inspired them to take on this challenge. Mr Sanderson's background is large multinational software companies including ICL and Oracle, with particular emphasis on the water industry. Mr Sanderson also has previous experience in the location sector, running Genasys in the mid-1990s. Having worked for over 12 years with business processes in scientific and engineering functions within the water industry, he has applied this experience to a variety of roles in IT. He is a Visiting Lecturer at Warwick University's Management School and Visiting Research Fellow at Leeds University Business School and a Fellow of the British Computer Society.
