--Just wondered but have you sold out of Barclays to buy in to Lloyds ? as that is what I have heard a lot of people have been doing--
BM21, I have some Lloy and took up the open offer. To be honest I have too many to make me very comfortable and the average is underwater (80p). I've pretty much deceided to set them aside and go long. When they finally get to £1 i'll sell some but keep the OO shares long term. Of late i've been trading RBS and Lloy (as many others have) and a little Barc. I take profit on these, which for Lloy has taken out the paper loss on shares held, which is probably why i am happy to hold them. I work on a deal by deal basis and try to make profit on each, so there are winners and sometimes losers. Every deal is recorded for experience sake. Garbleds drip drip works i'm sure but not for me. Each deal is take on it's own merit, no accumulations or averaging, though I do use good deals on a particular stock to take out a loss making one, but never against a different share. I also have some smaller investments, mainly in the mining and energy sector, which i also intend to hold long term for the long term recovery factor. I rarely tinker with these unless absolutely necessary (VED recently for example). One thing that is apparent to me is that because I started trading on Banks six months ago and have done very well, I find it difficult to buy and hold them. It's almost like a second income. Other sector shares, no problem to buy and keep if I want to. I would like a position in Barc and it may come but all in all I am happy. Zen. Just wondered but have you sold out of Barclays to buy in to Lloyds ? as that is what I have heard a lot of people have been doing, I can't even see the £2.70s been hit again never mind the £2.60s, Since barclays has risen 10% this week in a slumping market and any upside will take Barclays with hit I wouldn't be surprised to see barclays at £4 before the results and after that who knows, Think your right about them looking expensive now compared to HSBC but its a fact people can't get enough of Barclays as they are still snapping them up at these levels! Another bumper week coming up! More | View thread (11) | Respond | Login to Vote up | Login to Vote down |
