Matrix Corporate Capital (as reported by Investment Trust Newsletter) say "the trust is a higher risk play, with 15% geared exposure to smaller companies, but suggests it offers attractive and complementary exposure to more plain-vanilla Japanese trusts . . . we believe that the quake-related correction has created an attractive entry point for investors. We believe BGS ordinary shares will outperform the wider market over the next 12 months. John MacDougall (portfolio manager) "is sanguine about the long-term impact of the quake and aftermath on Japan's economic prospects and those of his portfolio. He expects two quarters of disruption and for reported earnings (plus associated metrics) to have limited informational value for the years ending March 2011 and 2012. . . MacDougall highlighted that his bias to Asian growth (40%) and new Japan (60%) has provided investors with exposure to the most dynamic parts of the Japanese economy. Growth expectations compare favourably with the best parts of Asia ex Japan and the portfolio is expected to generate around 10-15% annual earnings growth over the next five years (slightly delayed for quake disruption." i have both ballie jap funds and scot mortgage and pacific horizon, if i had any spare cash i would buy more shin and bgfd at the moment but i dont.
