RNS Number : 2667I Forbidden Technologies PLC 09 March 2010 9 March 2010 Forbidden Technologies plc ("Forbidden" or the "Company") Molinare selects FORscene Forbidden's Cloud-based editing platform is increasingly the tool of choice Forbidden Technologies, the AIM quoted developer and marketer of a leading web-based video platform, today announced that post production house Molinare chose to provide FORscene to its client Studio Lambert, for the new production of 'Paradise Lost: Florida'. Studio Lambert used FORscene, the Cloud-based video editing platform, for the production of 'Paradise Lost: Florida', a new 1x60min programme following the lives of Britons who have chosen to relocate to Florida, to be broadcast on ITV1 later this year. FORscene allowed digital material, shot in XDCAM, to be split-digitised into local storage and FORscene Load hardware for compression and uploading into the FORscene Cloud. Browser access enabled production staff to remotely view daily clips and add metadata based on the individual stories being followed for the series. Frame accurate searchable metadata meant clips could be ordered according to story once the production team moved to the edit suite, saving time and ensuring the efficient use of post production resources. Molinare's endorsement of Forbidden's FORscene Cloud-based video editing platform is further proof of the growing demand for flexible editing tools which allow users to access and edit material from remote locations via web browsers. Jo Crawley, Head of Production, Studio Lambert, said: "We've used FORscene on a number of productions because of the savings it delivers. FORscene gives our staff the flexibility to work in the office, on location or at the post house without having to worry about duplication or carrying sensitive content with them." Kate George, Head of Post Production at Molinare post production, commented: "Clients are increasingly looking to gain access to material outside of the post house building. The FORscene solution includes a powerful set of tools. We found it quick and easy to set-up." Pete Burns, Project Manager, Forbidden Technologies said: "We're pleased to be working with Molinare. FORscene is becoming a standard service provided by post-production companies. FORscene gives major production companies the advantages of greater quality control in the editorial processes."

RNS Number : 7180H Forbidden Technologies PLC 01 March 2010 1 March 2010 Forbidden Technologies plc ("Forbidden" or the "Company") Maverick Television uses FORscene for hospital documentary All3Media Company uses FORscene on major ITV series Forbidden Technologies today announced that Maverick Television, part of the All3Media group, selected FORscene, Forbidden's Cloud-based video editing platform, for the upcoming production of 'Children's Hospital', which will be broadcast on ITV1. Maverick, the independent producer behind 'How to Look Good Naked', shot footage for 'Children's Hospital', a new documentary, on location at the Royal Manchester Children's Hospital. Shooting was conducted on an XDCAM EX tapeless video system. FORscene enabled production staff to view and log the footage, adding frame-accurate metadata to clips, from remote locations via the web. With a number of patient stories running throughout shooting, production staff annotated material ensuring the efficient transfer of clips to edit suites in post-production. Available through a web-browser, frame accurate searchable metadata allowed clips to be ordered according to the distinct story lines being followed granting efficient post production editing. Donna Mulvey-Jones, Head of Facilities at Maverick Television, said: "This production produced a lot of stories and the key for the production team was to ensure they could monitor how they each developed. FORscene was easy to use and flexible when adding important information about stories, leading to a more productive use of edit suites after filming. Giving the Executive Producer access to rushes and cuts regardless of location was amazingly helpful." Roger Sanderson, Chief Engineer at Sumners post-production, said: "We have a lot of experience with productions using tapeless formats and the issues that can occur. We found FORscene to be a benefit to workflow enhancements we can offer. The support for file based media is a significant addition to the FORscene toolset and we believe that Cloud based solutions will be an important element of project management moving forward." Pete Burns, Project Manager, Forbidden Technologies said: "We are pleased to be working with Maverick and Sumners on this project. Broadcast productions are moving to HD and tapeless formats. Adding and searching metadata is invaluable, making FORscene's file based workflows increasingly attractive."

RNS Number : 7176H Forbidden Technologies PLC 26 February 2010 26 February 2010 Forbidden Technologies plc ("Forbidden" or the "Company") Air Post provides FORscene to enhance production workflow Post-production facility uses Forbidden Technologies' platform to provide edit access anytime Forbidden Technologies, the AIM quoted developer and marketer of a leading web-based video platform, today announced that Air Post provided FORscene, the web-based editing service, for the post-production of 'Restoration Roadshow', produced by Transparent Television for BBC Two. 'Restoration Roadshow' follows a squad of antiques restorers visiting towns across the country where members of the public are invited to bring along items from damaged heirlooms to attic treasures which they hope can be restored. Featured items are appraised and valued before restoration and viewers learn the items' histories and why the owner would like them to be restored. The programme follows the restoration process and at the end the owners are given the opportunity to sell their antiques at auction. Air Post split-digitised DigiBeta rushes via serial digital interface into FORscene and local storage for in-house editing. With production staff on location across the UK, web-based access enabled the review of recently shot material and gave producers frame-accurate tools to create rough-cut edits. FORscene's logging interface was used by producers to add notes and highlight important material for the edit ahead of time. Using built-in search tools, the production team was able to find shots quickly in order to create rough-cuts and sync pulls. This provided greater control over material, and made it easy for producers to work on material shot by colleagues during production. Once filming was complete, edits created in FORscene were exported as Advanced Authoring Formats ('AAFs') for re-connection with the full resolution media at Air Post. Jo Clements, Post Producer at Air Post, said: "We've been using FORscene over the last 18-months and have explored its wide range of functionality for a number of productions covering different genres. FORscene's flexibility has enabled us to provide it to clients, improving their workflow options." Pete Burns, Project Manager at Forbidden Technologies, said: "We're pleased to be working with Air Post, they have demonstrated the wide range of circumstances that FORscene can be applied to in a post-production environment. FORscene's range of uses contributes to an integrated solution in the post-production workflow." Restoration Roadshow is a Transparent Television production for BBC Two.

Editing In broadcast television, FORscene is being used for more and more of the editing process. For those who choose to finish on FCP, FORscenes XML exports have been extended from frame accurate cuts-only edits to include transitions such as dissolve and wipes. =================== Whatever the format of this XML file is, it looks like FORscene has some 'growing room' in terms of the depth of descriptive data it is sending to a finishing platform. I guess progress along this path is a function of what can be expressed in FORscene currently, what the XML format supports, what actual demand there is from customers / perceived value from Forbidden. The really positive news appears 1. There are cases where FORscene is used for some finishing by customers who have the option to use another platform but choose not to 2. For scenarios where finishing is shared between FORscene and another platform, the richness of data exported from FORscene is increasing indicating FORscene is winning a greater share of the users time. |
