SATIVEX^® REGULATORY APPROVAL RECEIVED IN AUSTRIA

Porton Down, UK; 7 February 2012: GW Pharmaceuticals plc (AIM: GWP) today announces a regulatory update for Sativex^® (Delta-9-Tetrahydrocannabinol (THC) and Cannabidiol (CBD)) oromucosal spray.

Sativex^® has received regulatory approval in Austria as a treatment of spasticity due to Multiple Sclerosis (MS). The launch of Sativex^® in Austria is expected to take place during 2012 following completion of the national pricing and reimbursement process. Sativex^® will be marketed in Austria by GW's marketing partner, Almirall S.A.

In addition, further to the November 2011 announcement of the filing of a new regulatory application, under the European Mutual Recognition Procedure (MRP), to expand Sativex^®approvals to additional European countries, the dossier has been validated and is now under technical review by regulatory authorities in the following countries: Belgium, Finland, Iceland, Ireland, Luxembourg, the Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Portugal and Slovakia. It is expected that this new MRP process should complete around mid 2012.

Sativex^® is currently available as a prescription medicine in the UK, Spain, Germany, Denmark, Canada and New Zealand. Launches are expected during 2012 in Italy, Sweden, Austria and the Czech Republic.

Sativex^® has been developed by GW Pharmaceuticals and is marketed in Europe (except the UK) by Almirall.The product is also in Phase III clinical development as a treatment for cancer pain.

When the UK approval original missed the first time the SP droped below 30p, after speculation it would hit sent the SP over £1.35. Once approved it shot back up to around £1 as people knew due to euro regs, other euro approvals would come. So don't be surprised when a new euro country approves it makes ditto diff to the SP. With all these approvals in Europe, one would hope to see significant growth in terms of turnover and profit over the next 12 months, which one would assume would impact significantly on the SP, regardless of the US market. More View thread 7 Respond Login to Vote up

Indeed C, hanging on due to the 'fundamentals' rather than hard facts of share performance - a key cause of major loss among private investors. I have stop losses in places that I am now close to. It was hard lessons learnt on other shares that led to this. I still however maintain the strong buy stance with GWP because even if it is some time before full appovals in the US, we'll start to see significant rises before then based initially on speculation. That'll be a few more years then geoff... ;-) Can't believe this share still sits sub £1, ridiculous, but that's the market for you. Might wack a few in my ISA actually, see how they fare over the next few years - probably be exactly the same value when I sell 'em! Hope you're well, I admire the patience some show on this board with this share, not sure I have enough personally, which can be dangerous in the markets.
