Spectrum Interactive sails into UK marine market
Spectrum Interactive plc has
bought the assets of marina WiFi operator, Ocean Wave Europe Ltd, for an
undisclosed sum. Ocean Wave Europe Limited, established in 2006 had grown into
one of the largest marina WiFi networks in Europe, but ran in to difficulties in
2009. Spectrum will deliver high speed wireless internet access to 40 coastal
and inland marinas in the UK and Ireland.
Spectrum completed the network
takeover during December 2009 and as a result will provide an estimated 15,000
permanent berth holders and visiting yachtsmen with easy to use WiFi
connectivity. Marinas include Premier Marinas, Yacht Havens, Associated British
Ports and many independent marinas.
The Spectrum service offers marinas a wide
range of WiFi options in design and payment services for the berth holders.
Additionally Spectrum has already started offering the marinas a range of new
products and marketing opportunities including remote printing, internet desk
access and media sales.
