I just in loss with Sound now, so I'll sit it out... not buying more.... I've been in AIM longer than I'd imagined I would be...... strange, what you do (one does). Lovely weather! off to USA next week..... not for long... a TV show.... first you, now me! Mine will remain a mystery though.

This AIM adventure and all the cast of characters has been a really interesting adventure. Not sure about iii but I was advised to spread my trading platform and to acquire certificates for most of the holdings so I am not 100% iii. I'm really just waiting for Amur to go into production but I might even just bottom-drawer them and conclude if it drags on into next year...... You (one) can only stand so much....

An extremely bullish presentation for Kerendan in the Salamander annual report may bring a bit of encouragement to Sound holders-

A 320 MW power plant is being constructed 3 km from the Kerendan field with the capacity to handle three times the volume of the initial GSA.

If Salamander have booked 19mmboe to reserves and 23.4mmboe awaiting commercialisation, Sound would have 1.2mmboe proved and a further 1.5mmboe awaiting commercialisation. The additional 1Tcf upside appears to have an 8% cos but if proven, would add significant revenue stream.

Interesting that the power plant will have 3 times the capacity currently signed up last year - either a leap of faith or Salamander have been playing it very close to their chest.

At the current rate Salamander could beat PO to first gas although Gerry's recent travels to Indonesia may have moved Jatayu on a bit. Current estimates give TD around 2nd - 5th June, but Indonesia is turning out to be a tough nut to drill.

It will be a real bonus if Salamander can start those "step-out-wells" in the second half of the year, but first they have 3 production wells before they can start to drill for the deeper prospect. I had figured 2013 for those big prospects but maybe Sep/Oct/Dec time & then into Strombone in December. This year ought to be transformational for Sound.

Greater Kerendan

The Kerendan gas field contains 280 Bcf of certified resource.

During 2011 the Group signed a GSA for the supply of 120 Bcf of gas leading to the Group booking 19 MMboe of 2P reserves.

Salamander operates the Bangkanai PSC in the Barito basin, Central Kalimantan, having acquired a 69% operated interest in this PSC in 4Q 2010 and deepened its interest to 80% in 4Q 2011.

The licence contains the Kerendan gas field development and a number of additional step-out exploration targets.

The Kerendan gas field contains 280 Bcf of certified resource. During 2011 the Group signed a gas sales agreement (GSA) for the supply of 120 Bcf of gas leading to the Group booking 19 MMboe of 2P reserves.

The gas is being sold to PLN for local power generation. A 320 MW power plant is being constructed 3 km from the Kerendan field with the capacity to handle three times the volume of the initial GSA. Given this ready market for the gas, the Group hopes to commence the process of commercialising the remaining 160 Bcf of certified contingent on completion of its 2012 development drilling.

Furthermore, there is over one Tcf of exploration upside on the Bangkanai PSC. The most immediate prospects for drilling are West Kerendan and Sungai Lahei, which are cheduled to be drilled in 2H 2012.

In the event the Group discovers upwards of 1 Tcf of gas in the Greater Kerendan area then it will be economical to build a pipeline to East Kalimantan where there are multiple commercialisation options at a higher price than those that can be realised from local power.

The Group has also been awarded two Joint Study Areas adjacent to the Bangkanai PSC. These present it with potential acreage additions in an area where the Group is developing its understanding of the regional petroleum geology and where there is a clear market for incremental gas volumes to be commercialised.

Salamander’s position in the Greater Kerendan area exhibits a number of the characteristics the Group looks for when entering a new region: hard resource with upside development potential to anchor position; exploration and appraisal upside; and the opportunity to expand into surrounding acreage.


Chairman’s and Chief Executive’s review

During 2011 the Group commenced a high-grading of its portfolio with the aim of focusing on areas where it has large, operated interests with material upside exposure and high quality, anchor assets. These areas include the Greater Bualuang area, in the Gulf of Thailand; the North Kutei area and the Greater Kerendan area, both in Indonesia.

The Group used these funds to expand in its core areas with the farm-in to the G4/50 block in the Greater Bualuang area, Thailand and increasing its interest in the Greater Kerendan area, through the acquisition of additional equity in the Bangkanai PSC. Both of these areas offer higher potential returns and more tangible growth opportunities than the ONWJ and SES PSCs.

MARKETS

Despite difficult global economic conditions, the Group’s principal markets of Indonesia and Thailand continue to grow, with the IMF forecasting GDP growth in 2012 of 6.3% in Indonesia and 4.8% in Thailand. The demand for new gas-fired power projects in Indonesia remains strong.
