Yes all speculation on my part Sool, but with the track record here you just don't know what can happen. Just talking out loud, as regards to the trading statement that's basicly what I was getting at with one of the points ie Tanfield holding up the statement to add in a snippet in regards to Smiths. But like you say 'why should they, they are an AWP company'.
As always here, stop loss in place, clench and hope for the best. Best regards 7d |

If the SI was rejected wouldn't Tanfield have to report that to the market? As for loggerheads with regards what Tanfield will sell, surely that should have been agreed before the filing, or you would have thought. I can't see a scenario all of sudden of Tanfield saying hey we are going to sell x % off in the offering and Smith saying no you are not!!! Or perhaps with previuos track records maybe that is the case!! Truthfully I can't see any of this holding up a trading statement pre close to results, Tanfield are now an AWP manufacturer and that is what they should be concentrating on, so a Trading update should only concern Snorkel. The only hold up could be that they wanted to update the market on Snorkel but also add in a Smith IPO comment. They could easily update on Snorkel and make no mention of the Smith IPO. Simples to me but maybe not to the management as they seem to like delays and uncertainty. I think they need to take notice of another AIM company who are proactive with their investors and treat them with respect, I won't mention the name of the company but if you can guess have a peak over on the discussion board tommorow am and see what I mean. I tell you it's another world from what we appear to be getting from Tanfield at the moment. 7, agree with your final comments though, it certainly is a worry with this bunch as to what is going on, although I think we can rest assured for the time being that even they have not blown all of the Smith proceeds yet!!! It's certainly a dragged out affair Bistable I will say that, but when isn't it with this stock. They really do need to get their finger out and get this moving(if there is enough investors for the IPO that is).
I've been watching the industry as a whole, Ford/Azure have sold 45 connects recently. Turns out most are for Ford dealers though for demonstrators and Enova are show casing their step through on the US west coast with the green-for-free deal. http://www.enovasystems.com/green-for-free/index.html At least Smiths have an assemble plant and are in production with another one on the way, but I agree the big fleets have to start taking this up soon, that was the strategy they came up with to concentrate on the larger fleet operators. obvious--no significant fleet orders--so no new production sites--so no investment required
Hansel has not delivered you could say the market is not his fault but he hyped all this up over a year ago like a true salesman selling this company to the market who have seen through him and his mentors I had been with TAN for years as many woul know but gave up on this months ago for better companies but before you all say it why do I still bother--just out of curiosity really and to learn |

It's now been three months since the IPO announcement and there has been no S1/A filed, the SEC don't take that long to review an S1 so the hold up must be on Smiths side. So why are Smiths holding it back?,a road show is 2 weeks long with the listing straight after, but they've not even started that yet.
So it's either the S1 was rejected by the SEC and Smiths are struggling to meet the amendment requirements,Smith and Tanfield are at loggerheads about how much Tanfield will sell off, Smiths don't think it's the right climate to have the IPO after all , fleet owners (table of 20) won't commit to buying vehicles. Jeez I could go on and on, so guess I haven't really got a clue just . Either way this is what is/has delayed the trading statement from Tanfield, and from expieriance from this bunch it is never good news. Best regards 7d |

I see your post is full of frustration which is understandable, and I think we are both steering towards this conclusion. The management can of course retrieve our belief, by turning around the fortunes of Snorkel, but as I have stated previusly, I do not want any more excuses, especially their favourite catchphrase trotted out whenever the next update may be, "supply chain issues" are holding us back. That imo will be unacceptable. As I say there is still time here, and I generally agree the IPO is the one thing here holding many of us in!!! Good luck Pensive. Sool |

Unfortunately, after some years holding this stock, I find it hard to escape the
conclusion that , not only do Tanfield management display the indifference amounting to contempt for shareholders that is so sadly prevalent among so many aim-listed small caps, they are also are about as mediocre a mob of imcompetents as you could find in any business Pither is antediluvian, Kell a sausage in a suit. Were it not for the prospect of Smith's IPO, there would be, IMHO, absolutely no reason whatsoever to invest here. And one can only give thanks that the Nasdaq listing is with any luck beyond their power to mess up. All IMO. DYOR. NIAI. |

7,
Still here then, let us hope the yanks are indeed loaded and they want to subscribe for a pile of Smith shares in a market offering, at a hugely inflated price. Joking aside, it is getting boring now, no news from Tan since Nov 2011, I checked back and although they issued a Trading statement in Feb 11 pre the release of the 2011 results in April 11, in 2010 no Trading statement was issued pre results. It's looking that way this time around to me, if though they are moving Snorkel forward which should be the case imo, why not let the market know? Are they awaiting some definite news on Smith so as to link this in with a statement. If they were to release a pre results statement and there was no update on Smith, would they be forced to state that no definative dates on a Smith IPO are available and therefore it is on the backburner? I have to say this appears to be typical Tanfield management at the moment, nothing happening quickly, but I will be happy to be proved wrong. sp holding steady at the moment, but the longer this goes without any statements from Tan, I fear the sp will start to slip back again. 7, any thoughts? |

Lol, I know it sounds strange mr2c280 but EV's parked overnight charging require less KW's to charge than the KW's they can produce. So in affect you can buy electric off the grid then sell it back, reducing the cost to charge a vehicle. Which in turn gives you less running costs for your EV.

Multiple lithium battery sources
The MIT study across several American cities utilized all-electric trucks, manufactured by Missouri-based Smith Electric Vehicles. The proprietary lithium battery system features a unique capability of managing power using an integration scheme permitting the use of lithium batteries of varying sizes from different manufacturers. The current strategic partners are A123 Systems (NASDAQ:AONE) and Valence (NASDAQ:VLNC). Relative costs and efficiency The research was based on the data collected assuming the fleet of trucks was operated for 70 miles a day during a year of 253 working days, with diesel gasoline costing $4.00 per gallon. Trucks with internal-combustion engines averaged 10.14 miles per gallon, compared to 11.56 miles per gallon for hybrid trucks, while the electric only trucks averaged 0.8 kilowatt-hours per mile. The study additionally modeled what could happen if the fleets of trucks were part of a vehicle to grid electricity system in which lithium batteries would be plugged into the electricity grid for 12 hours overnight, as an additional source for residential electricity. Under this format the vehicle owners would be paid by utility firms for the power resource. http://resourceinvestingnews.com/30774-support-for-electric-vehicle-programs-on-the-increase-in-the-united-states.html |

Note the comment towards the end of the interview with Rayer !Snorkel has a clear strategy for growth and I am pleased to be part of its execution." Well it's about time they told us bl**dy shareholders then isn't it, I wonder if Rayer has heard about the supply chain issues, or will he hear it along with the rest of us in Kell's next speech to the market. You gotta larf ain't you!!! Seems we are in for an upbeat statement then, growth means uplifting current sales from where I'm sitting and ending the routine loss syndrome. Bring it on!!!! Can't wait. |

exactly-cheaper batteries and that needs volume--the big hope was that electric cars would do that but it just hasn't happened cause people have not realised the market is for cheap small 2nd cars for local runaround charged from home not charging points in car parks
Not one self funded fleet order nin UK or US and so no production sites Empty words from Hansel who I used to trust cannot see an IPO based on that performance This whole market has been run by politicians not real feet on te grtound mar=keting people |

7dwarfs, i am sure as you say it is only a matter of time before the battery prices come down significantly to make EV's a compelling proposition.
Just for an analogy, polysilicon for solar cells was at up to $400 per kg in 2006. It is now down to $30 per kg as supply has increased. |

You beat me to it drumster, the money Smith/Tanfield invested from the DOE money in 2010 on telemetry developed by Sensortechnik,Storm MQ and Lyndon Ash is proving these Newton EV's are a viable cost saver for companies in the urban roll they are designed for. It's not quite dead yet now all that's needed is cheaper batteries before the funding runs out.

Picked this up from Bloomberg New Energy Finance today. Does not indicate to me New World that interest in electric vehicle is going to end any time soon:
The tipping point for electric vehicles could in fact come as early as 2015, Better Place chairman Idan Ofer said in Davos last week. The company expects to go public in the next two years. China is targeting one million electric cars on the road by 2015. The US is aiming to have a similar number by the same date. The California Air Resources Board adopted new rules last week that would require automakers to sell millions of zero-emission vehicles, setting standards which are typically followed by states from New York to Oregon. Plug-in hybrids and all-electric vehicles have the potential to make up 9% of auto sales in 2020, according to Bloomberg New Energy Finance. That could rise to 22% of sales by 2030, or 4m vehicles. The uptake of electric vehicles is likely to have positive spin-offs in the broader energy storage market. Most grid-scale lithium-ion battery projects currently cost more than USD 1,000/kWh. Bloomberg New Energy Finance is forecasting significant price drops in the next 36 months to about USD 600/kWh. |

newworld,
With respect,....I can't think of one of SEVUS customers who are filing for bankruptcy? Fritolay, Staples, TNT, US Army? ... and to date,.... I have not heard of one poor review from any of the Fleet buyers who have bought or been trialling the vehicles..... IMHO,... the IPO will happen, ..when it happens,.... I have almost given up trying to figure out when,...... the company and their advisors will know when to push this through,... and until then,... we have to sit tight and wait it out,...... or sell up and move on. I've sold some of mine... but still have a decent holding which I will keep until the end of Q1.... if there is no movement by then I will review by position as their are lots of opportunities out there at the moment. No. I would say it's the fact that the Obama administration has given Green companies

in my mind main IPO problem is there are no fleet sdales hence no production expansion into those 20 US sites despite having that $50M odd during 2011. I recon this is dead

Yes very slow here nothing so far from the co this year, but as you say we are due an update any day now. SXX very interesting as you say, drop following placing, as expected although I thought placing would be March. Very well managed though, and raise should be enough for the medium term. Same here large investment, no spread though, for me this is purely an investment, and should prove very lucrative. Mike try and persuade D&D to return, sadly missed at the moment. Regards Sool |
