Meldex announces today that Peter Ibbetson, Senior Independent Non-Executive Director, has resigned from his position on the Board with immediate effect to highlight the unacceptable behaviour from a minority of shareholders. This behaviour includes a high volume of abusive emails and phone calls to the Board, Management and staff, and the dissemination of information which the Board believes is often erroneous and misleading.

Mr Ibbetson joined the Board of Meldex as Non-Executive Chairman in July 2005. He then was appointed Senior Independent Non-Executive Director in April 2007.

Dr. Jim Murray, Non-Executive Chairman of the Company, said: "I would like to thank Peter for all his hard work over the past 3 years. He has helped to grow the business to what it is today. I commend his stand in highlighting these serious issues. I am sorry that we are losing such a capable and supportive non-executive director from the Board. The Company continues to develop the business to the benefit of all shareholders."
