Mecom announces Board appointment

Mecom Group plc ("Mecom") announces that Gerry Aherne has joined the Board as a non-executive director with effect from 22 October 2009. He will become a member of the Audit, Nomination and Remuneration Committees.

Mr Aherne is currently managing partner of Javelin Capital LLP and a director of Electric and General Investment Trust plc. He is also a non-executive director of Henderson Group plc, Hadleigh plc and an executive director of Majedie Investments plc. He spent 18 years with Equity & Law in various actuarial and investment management roles up to 1986 then 16 years with Schroder Investment Management, as Investment Director up to 2002.
