Project always has been and always will be if the same company is involved. Just a way of exploiting the resources without controlling or it seems contemplating the cause of these devastating effects on the local population. The GoB, on the evidence I have seen written, is too shortsighted, ignorant or maybe even corrupt to admit that they understand what a disaster the Barapukuria project is.

Let GCM manage the complex Phulbari mine, employing all the technical expertise available at a reasonable price, allow a margin of profit, let the people share in the inevitable benefits, both locally and nationally, without the cost of bribes and paying the local coal mafioso. The extraction and utilisation of coal from mine to power generation need not be damaging
to environment or health.

My investment in GCM is paradoxically becoming an enviromental crusade in itself. It may actually save the people of Bangladesh from an enviromental disaster that is Barapukuria.
