Discussion

Range Resources Limited ("Range" or "the Company") is both an ASX-listed (ASX: RRS) and AIM-listed (AIM: RRL) exploration and production Company, with its principal activities directed towards finding and delineating hydrocarbons in Puntland, Somalia; the Republic of Georgia, onshore Texas, USA and Trinidad.

"Something not in the RNS is I'm hearing they were still getting continuous shows a further couple of hundred feet lower and pressures experienced have been way higher than expected. What the current situation is I don't know or the effect this continuation of the first primary zone deeper than expected has on the size position of the secondary target area. They went deeper on 135 to hit the full horizon so it could well be the case here." Richard Agreed that it is definitely on the cards for Trin bid round - PL has been making sounds about it for a while and its on Range's website. So it does appear a fait accompli that we are bidding - success obviously a different matter. If we hadn't overstretched so much in the past I would be supportive as strategically it would make sense more than any other licence we could bid for. I would be keener if we had proved we can increase production so that there is a credible increasing series of cashflows - but we haven't yet. All I hope is that if we are involved that we are part of a consortium so that our initial outlay is limited. I also hope that if Range are successful that the licence is structured so as to limit upfront payments and rather be covered by royalty premiums on production. St Mary's is a serious sized block - 60 square miles compared to 20 square miles for the newly expanded Morne Diablo. Therefore its not going to come cheap to win the bid or to develop. I hope Range know something we don't and that they have line of sight to funding that does not involve issuing shares- e.g. Nkwe deal completing, selling Georgia, selling Kaz, getting farm-in on Puntland offshore etc etc. If this were the case I would be supportive but on existing cashflows I am concerned because I can see it involving issuing more share capital. If you look at the comments of CH that we are focusing on TT, Africa and Russia then it would seem entirely logical for RRL to add to the acreage in TT. I agree with others that we need to see whether we can get in on the act but then we should be looking to farm out/ dispose of all the non core assets ( listed by chique) so we have no operational management responsibilities, We can't do everything and we need to make the existing core assets sweat. I like the prospects and will like it more when we get the BOPD up. At these levels assuming to merger goes ahead we are very cheap and a buy, More View thread 14 Respond Login to Vote up

OK, but what if (for example) CH & PL have reached the conclusion (epihany time!) that... Georgia oil is not going to happen (& Geogia gas covered off via GIG) Guatamala stays as a TPET (amen) style 'investment' Colombia is 10% free carried (let's assume correct for illustrative purposes) That leaves (only!) Puntland & Niger (plus Sudan?), of which Puntland is accounted for via Horn control. I really do think additional TT acerage makes sense. These deals PL gets approached about day in, day out, are likely to be akin to Texas, Guat & Colo...bailing out troubled companies (IOP anyone...??)....which PL (hopefully, finally) realises is not an option anymore, given the appalling state of the share price, which, TT aside, is simply the product of deals whcih has moved (at best) sideways. SOTO...your appraisal of what we should be doing is, as usual, spot on. However, this should not preclude us from using RBL / Texas cash, from bidding for one of these blocks. Once it's gone it's gone...and conversely, once we have it...we have it. PL will have a natural predalication to bid for this acerage, and CH will doubtless want to bid for new acerage in TT and 'show us how it should be done', in terms of development (on the new acerage). Once Colombia is free carried, coupled with non operator status in Puntland & Guatamala, and 'merely' a simple pipeline to weld in Russia, these guys will practically be twiddling their thumbs ;-) I jest of course, but fresh acerage in TT is sensible...and besides...think about the recent statements from PL....$100M investment in TT...hiring new staff...etc etc....if that's not designed to butter up the politicians / bid coordinators, then what is?! It would be nice to get another block however I agree we should develop what we have first and start getting the targeted amount of oil out of the ground before spending any more money. I was wondering when someone would pick up on the bd rounds. Was going to pose that question, "where are RRL going to get the funds from" You all seem to forget that there will soon be 4.8 billlion shares in issue and some. Are you all happy to have more dilution so PL can purchase more blocks ? Sheesh, RRL has not delivered anything in 2 years and you go on about spending more. IT - whilst info is not 'new' here it was the fact that Range have added it to their website which may be of significance....presumably Range's already established status in Trini lends gravitas/credibility to some form of JV bid because of scale...as you say.....also the fact that Range would want to be seen as a major player in Trini might suggest participation is a must....certainly there is a balance to be struck here between Range not over-extending yet playing their 'new' Trini role somehow... just my take ..chrs More View thread 10 Respond Login to Vote up
