For immediate release: 27 October 2009 Matra Petroleum plc ("Matra" or the "Company") Matra spuds A-13 well, Sokolovskoe Field, Russia. Matra Petroleum plc (AIM:MTA), the oil and gas E&P company is pleased to announce that the A-13 well, on the Arkhangelovskoe License in Orenburg, Russia, spud on October 25th 2009. The well is the first appraisal of the Sokolovskoe Field discovered by Matra's A-12 well in 2007, and will be drilled to an up-dip location, testing the crest of the structure. The well will be drilled to 3850m, taking approximately 120 days in total and cost $4.5 million (excluding VAT). Matra's Managing Director, Peter Hind said: "We are pleased to have started well A-13, which is a very significant well for us. We expect to have results early in the New Year." In the meantime, the rig has been made ready for spud and the local electricity supply has now been hooked up to the well site. The only outstanding issues are a final inspection of the rig and electricity supply by local regulatory authorities. While these final approvals are anticipated later this week the timing is outside the company's direct control. A further announcement will be made when the well has spud. PRESS RELEASE For immediate release: 30th September 2009 Matra Petroleum plc Operational Update - Sokolovskoe - well 13 Matra Petroleum announces that the rig is on location at the well-site in Orenburg and commissioning is practically complete. We are encountering minor delays in installing the power supply to the rig, which is subject to third party control. In order to minimise the delay the drilling contractor is mobilising a generator from another operation as an interim solution. The generator is expected onsite within the next week, however it is subject to release at a point that is operationally convenient to a third party and therefore the exact date is outside our control but significant delays are not currently anticipated.
