LONDON (Thomson Financial) - BP PLC is set to start production on a huge new rig in the Gulf of Mexico that will eventually pump 200,000 barrels of oil a day, according to a report in The Sunday Express.

The report said testing is believed to have started on the rig, known as Atlantis, fuelling speculation it could be up and running within weeks. BP previously said Atlantis would be producing by the end of the year. r.jones@thomson.com rj/jlw
