NCC Q4 to take 25 mln skr fine for cartel activities of Finnish units

STOCKHOLM (Thomson Financial) - NCC AB said it will incur a fourth quarter fine of 25 mln skr after the Finnish Market Court imposed an administrative fee of around 13 mln skr on NCC Roads Oy, and 24 mln skr on NCC's half-owned company Valtatie Oy, for violations of the Finnish Competition Act.

NCC said it will evaluate the Court's decision before deciding whether to appeal within 30 days.

In its case, the Finnish Competition Authority (FCA) claimed that a national cartel had been in operation within the asphalt industry between 1994 and 2002, which divided up the market and engaged in pricing and tendering collusion.

A total of seven companies were found by the court to have infringed the Competition Act. NCC acquired the two companies NCC Roads Oy and Valtatie Oy, in 2000.
