  • Israeli drugs company Teva Pharmaceutical Industries Ltd its US unit has filed a lawsuit against the Food and Drug Administration in an attempt to force the US regulator to grant 180 day exclusivity for a generic version of Janssen Pharmaceutical's Risperdal tablets.

Teva will argue that the FDA's decision to deny the period of exclusivity for the company's pending abbreviated new drug application for risperidone tablets, was unlawful.

Risperdal is an antipsychotic medication used to treat schizophrenia and manic states associated with bipolar disorder. tf.TFN-Europe_newsdesk@thomson.com lam/cw
