KUALA LUMPUR (Thomson Financial) - Malaysian shares opened higher on Friday led by palm oil producer Kuala Lumpur Kepong as Wall Street's gains overnight.boosted sentiment. At 9.04 a.m. (0104 GMT), the Kuala Lumpur Composite Index (KLCI) was up 3.57 points or 0.3 percent at 1,296.65. The FTSE Bursa Malaysia 30-large cap index gained 24.87 points or 0.3 percent to 8,484.63 and the FTSE Bursa Malaysia second board index rose 25.73 points or 0.4 percent to 5,948.8. Advancers led decliners 95 to 26, with 61 stocks unchanged and 1,174 counters untraded. Trading volume was 27.58 million shares, valued at 23.7 million ringgit. Kuala Lumpur Kepong gained 1.8 percent to 17.30 ringgit. The Malaysian ringgit was quoted at 3.1475/1480 against the U.S. dollar in early trading. aipeng.soo@thomsonreuters.com as/ms
