  • Sept 26 (Reuters) - Property and financial services provider Direct Wonen NV said on Friday it slipped to a first-half pretax loss on low new property sales and one-off costs from terminating its Direct Hypotheken mortgage business.

The Netherlands-based company posted a pretax loss of 2.2 million euros ($3.21 million) for the six months to June 30, 2008, compared with a profit of 6.3 million euros a year earlier as revenue fell 35 percent and it booked writedowns of 1.6 million euros from Direct Hypotheken.

It said it is in talks regarding new contracts in its new property sales division and that it expects the sale process of the latest phase of its Funenpark project in Amsterdam will boost second-half results.

Direct Wonen shares dropped 23 percent to 25.5 pence at 0917 GMT.
