Italian Stocks - Factors to watch on Oct 6 |

MILAN, Oct 6 (Reuters) - The following factors could affect Italian markets on Tuesday. Reuters has not verified the newspaper reports, and cannot vouch for their accuracy. New items are marked with (*). TELECOM ITALIA, TELEFONICA Spain's Telefonica is planning to resist pressure from Italian politicians to give up its 10 percent stake in Telecom Italia, the Financial Times reported on Tuesday, citing people close to the situation. * Asked about Telefonica's relations with Telecom Italia, Telefonica chairman Cesar Alierta said his group is in Italy for the synergies, Il Sole 24 Ore reported, citing Alierta.
MEDIASET Mediaset, which controls Spanish TV comapny Telecinco , is seeking an alliance with Spanish counterpart Prisa and Telefonica to take a stake in Prisa's television unit Sogecable, El Economista said on Tuesday, citing unnamed sources. * Mediaset was not immediately reachable for comment.
UNICREDIT The bank's foundation shareholder CRT said it has expressed a favourable opinion in regard to the 4 billion euro capital increase approved by the bank's board. * Italian stock market watchdog is examining if the short selling ban was breached with regard to UniCredit's recent capital increase operation, Il Corriere della Sera said, without citing sources.
ENI Eni has decided not to sell its refinery at Livorno, Ansa newswire said on Monday, citing Livorno trade union CGIL. * French energy players Total and GDF Suez will invest about $1 billion in a 25 percent stake in Kazakh gas field project Khvalynskoye, of which Eni is a shareholder. * ENEL Enel and France's EDF will build four nuclear reactors in three sites in Italy, said several newspapers, including Il Sole 24 Ore which cited unnamed Enel managers. Overall investments will be 18 billion euros and the first power will be generated in 2020.
