STOCKHOLM, Nov 3 (Reuters) - Sweden, current holder of the European Union presidency, said on Tuesday the bloc's Lisbon reform treaty would come into force on Dec. 1.
"After a long journey, the Treaty of Lisbon has reached the goal," the Swedish government said in a statement.
"With the signature of the Czech President, all EU Member States have now ratified the text. The Treaty enters into force on 1 December and all the details must now be put in place."
In a separate statement on Tuesday, Swedish Prime Minister Fredrik Reinfeldt said he would call a summit of EU states as soon as possible.
Czech President Vaclav Klaus, who signed the document earlier on Tueday, was the last EU leader to ratify the treaty. It means the bloc of nearly half a billion people can now pick its first-ever long-time president and a more powerful foreign representative. Keywords: EU TREATY/START
