TOKYO, Nov 9 (Reuters) - Japan's Nikkei average edged down 0.5 percent on Monday, with Canon Inc and other exporters hit by wariness about the U.S. economy after mixed jobs data as well as by a stronger yen. Nippon Telegraph and Telephone Corp (NTT) slipped 1.6 percent after the Nikkei business daily said it will likely report an operating profit of about 630 billion yen ($7.01 billion) for the April-September first half, a drop of 15 percent from the same period last year.
The benchmark Nikkei fell 42.71 points to 9,746.64,
while the broader Topix lost 0.7 percent to 868.04.
