Stocks on the move Real-time Equity news U.S. stock market report 0827 EST 23Nov2009-Citi, UBS rank low in S&P new capital ratio study ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Citigroup, UBS and BBVA all have capital ratios well below the average for major banks, according to Standard & Poor's (S&P) study aiming to strip out inconsistencies in global measures on Monday. The study which is the first global comparison of risk-adjusted capital (RAC) adequacy for the world's top banks said the global average ratio for its RAC ratio was 6.7 percent at the end of June. But Citigroup's RAC was 2.1 percent, UBS's was 2.2 percent and BBVA's was 5.4 percent, putting each in the bottom quintile. In contrast, HSBC's RAC ratio was 9.2 percent while Goldman Sachs and Toronto-Dominion Bank each had a ratio of 8.3 percent, putting them in the top quintile. Citi shares were up 1.2 percent to $4.25 in premarketing trading, while Goldman Sachs was up 0.8 percent at $171.39. The dollar slipped after James Bullard, the St. Louis Federal Reserve president, said on Sunday the Fed should extend its mortgage-related assets purchase program to give policy-makers more flexibility as they help the economy recover from a painful recession. S&P 500 futures rose 11.1 points and were above fair value, a formula that evaluates pricing by taking into account interest rates, dividends and time to expiration on the contract. Dow Jones industrial average futures gained 95 points and Nasdaq 100 futures added 15.5 points.
