Re: Back in business?

Do you seriously think that the shares will start trading again???? My shares in AI. were worth £11k the day before it collapsed and if I could get anything at all back it would be a bonus....

I seriously doubt the administrators will relist the shares though....

Warnings Ignored

I should of listen to the advice on a personal email below:

I have been having lunch with the senior business analyst recently and he has been updating with all the hot issues goin around AI. He says that we recently won the new contract with Japan and he says its good short term for the shares however in the long term as the current system as a lot of problems, the new contract will only make things busier and add to the massive problems already existing in the system. He says the guy under Rupert Lewin (CEO) is getting all the major accountants together and somehow make the shares go up a lot and then just walk out of the company leaving the company to go bust somehow. They are also trying to hold all there funds not paying suppliers to increase their assets so they can borrow more from the banks. Its true, there cash flow has been really bad, at one stage satair, aviodeipen, boeing and other major suppliers put us on credit hold. Im not 100% clear as to the exact plan but he warned me cos I told him my bros got shares so he helping me by givin me inside info. I couldn't ask much q's cos didn't get a chance too but il try find out more. Do your research but Just be prepared to sell when I say so, will give you update in the near future.
Administrators to sell Aero - FT

There's an article in today's FT apparently (I'm not a subscriber) saying Aero's for sale. Snippet from Citywire says:

" Aero Inventory is to be put up for sale by administrators more than a year after the aircraft parts wholesaler’s collapsed."

Re: Phoenix like resurrection?

I e-mailed the A.I. administrators yesterday...here's the reply.

Dear Sir/Madam,

Aero Inventory Plc (in administration)(‘the Company’)
Joint administrators - James Robert Tucker, Richard Heis and Allan Graham

Thank you for your enquiry.

You will be aware that the trading of shares in Aero Inventory Plc were suspended on 26 October 2009 and Joint Administrators were appointed over the Company on 11 November 2009.

I regret to inform you that I see no prospect of any funds being available for distribution to shareholders. It follows that in my view the shares have no value. You may wish to consider making a negligible value claim to offset any taxable capital gains under the provisions of section 24(2) Taxation of Capital Gains Act 1992. For queries relating to your ability to make a claim in respect of the shares, please contact your local inspector of taxes (or HMRC’s Shares and Assets Valuation office for queries relating to the valuation of the shares).

The purposes of the Administration are yet to be completed and at this stage we are unable to confirm when they will be achieved.
.....................................................

so there we have it......company re-launches at the expense of the shareholders. No mention of SFO involvement so it appears the company have got away with it scott-free.

Any financial journalists out there? There's got to be a story in this one.

So there we have it

Re: Phoenix like resurrection?

I've seen nothing official in respect of the administrator's report (to creditors - which appointed them - or anyone else) but recall (I think) criticism's being made of financial controls, rather than the business model.

Critcism examples cited, included use of an Access database (hopelessly inadequate) to control stock, and items being unknowingly sold at below cost, no doubt because of 'garbage in, garbage out' input to the database.

Personally, I'm confident the stock will not be re-quoted (build it up for a trade sale perhaps?) and any value will go to the creditors and administrator expenses. I continue to follow events out of curiosity; a wish to see justice (not holding my breath - but I thought the SFO was taking an interest); and, primarily, to identify that my loss has been crytallised for CGT purposes. Incidentally, my broker's mentioned a scheme where shares (small holdings too uneconomic to sell etc) can be gifted to a charity. Not sure if this counts as a disposal (for £0) for tax purposes but will post if I can clarify that.

I saw the website too!

Does anyone know if there has been any report to shareholders on what happened? Or a report for creditors that we could see?

It all went very quiet - surprised there was no fraud inquiry, suing of auditors etc. The city investors must have taken some big hits.

Re: Phoenix like resurrection?

Interesting!

But from that brief message it doesn't really look like the business model has changed, which caused them to collapse in the first place:

http://www.travolution.co.uk/articles/2010/07/30/3796/city-insider-is-your-business-a-turkey-swot-it-and-see.html

However, if they have been 'saved' by the administrators does that mean that my shares are still of some value, and do they have to reapply to be listed on AIM before they can recommence trading?

Re: Tax

Investors Chronicle has an article this week on this subject.

In short: HMRC publish a list of ex-quoted shares deemed to have 'negligible value' for tax purposes. List available at:http://www.hmrc.gov.uk/cgt/negvalist.htm

AI not (yet) on it. To add AI or any other share you need to contact your local tax man and make the case. Further guidance at: http://www.hmrc.gov.uk/cgt/negligible_list.htm

Hope that helps. By Diottica
