Warning to all holders...
Be on your guard! The suspicious phone calls keep coming - same "too good to be true" tentative offer to purchase your shares for a client.
Refused to give any personal details and instead tried to get their contact details for my own verification purposes and they hung up - what does that tell you - there's some wicked people out there preying on the unwary.
btw - gave up on this share years ago - is there still a pulse? By helicoiler

Suspicious Phone Call

I've today received a rather extraordinariy phone call from a number (017778891310) claiming to be Warren Fisher and Associates in New York.

They reckon some parties want to take over Artisan due to the amazing patents and licences they own and that they already have 41% of shareholders subscribed. They're prepared to pay between £3 and £5 per share.

Sounds like an utter load of fradulent claptrap so I sent them packing. Wonder if anyone else may have been contacted, if not to be forewarned in case they come after you. I've had boiler rooms after me before, but never finding me through Artisan.

If it turns out to be true then I'll be kicking myself (after I've eaten my hat). Surely iii would be abuzz if any of this was true.

I guess one could say that this company is really the Chairman's family business now; and the small shareholders are effectively out in the cold having invested with good intentions, and been loyal in the main; and some very long term holders too.

Ultimately the small private shareholders have been screwed, and either diluted out, or frozen out, or managed out through various ingenious restructuring wheezes, (or reliance on apathy?) and that's scant reward for their loyalty and capital! Shame on you, greedy so and so's! You will regret it one day! Stevens will have to stump up more money to have a chance that banks will support i.m.o and he will not want to share the business with us. Will he put his house up as security? Doubt it. Will he come to shareholders for more capital? Not likely methinks based on his past record. Once bitten! By Penman100

Trading conditions remain tough for Artisan

At the company's AGM, Artisan (UK)'s chairman Michael Stevens said trading conditions are the toughest the residential and commercial property developer has ever faced.

This has led to a drop in the Artisan share price of more than 10%.

This is making it more difficult to complete sales of new homes. Stevens believes that there is underlying demand in the housing market but buyers need to be more confident about the economy and be able to obtain loans more easily for things to turn up. Four bedroom homes are generating the most interest at the moment.

Artisan's NAV was £13.5m at the end of June 2010 but net debt was £18.5m. That debt needs to be renewed by 1 July 2011 and Artisan is negotiating with its bank.

info

Oh dear!

House builder Artisan (ART) reported reduced losses for the year to 30 June 2010 but revelations that the trading environment remains difficult sent its shares down 5p to 30p. Pre-tax losses for the full year narrowed from 8.1 million pounds a year earlier to 1.9 million pounds, benefiting from a modest recovery in the investment market. In spite of this, and with the need to maintain banking covenants and renew banking facilities, it is likely that additional debt or equity funding may be required, which could lead to future shareholder dilution, the restructuring of the group's subsidiary operations or possible mergers.
