IMO, what are the other 5 worth depends on how much money the company is going to make in the next few months.
Re: FT-Best of the Best soars on buyback...

The buy back was a logical move, even if it suprised me,as the company has significant excess cash on its balance sheet and virtually all its stock paid for together with its fixed assets fully owned,I think it owns its HQ, and will still have significant net cash after the buy back.
The main beneficiaries of the buy back will be the Directors as they own nearly 70% of the shares.Nicholas Berry (aka Stancroft Trust) who owns nearly 9% and Octopus around 5%.
On any logical basis the company and probably its shareholders gain little from its listing which costs circa £100k a year - although I think from a business point of view BEST probably gets some cred when negotiating with being a listed PLC and may as a consequence retain its listing, the shares are totally illiquid, rarely traded, difficult to buy & even more difficult to sell - it took a fair effort and a number of smallish trades to buy my holding in the summer.I paid an average of just over 17p;I was hoping when I bought the shares that maybe things might improve and in a couple of years might be able to sell out at around 25p and in the meantime the company paid out a decent divi,we have just been paid 1.2p, from its cash resources and any modest profit made.

I was totally amazed by the dealing and in my opinion crazy bidding up of the price on Friday - Far more shares were traded on LSE & Plus on Friday than in the previous 12 Months in total .I dont think the punters had a clue about the company, what it does, its record, its problems following the loss of its sites or understood the buy back.As you point out the trading update given on Friday is poor, worse then I expected.
Wouldn't be cheaper or simpler for the BOD to buy back all the shares at 28p and then delist the company? By 4u2cmt

I can't help but think the good news is in the price on this and it's a back-handed way to de-list and incrementally shut down while there's still some perceivable value (the cash) still in the business.

Raffling his sister's handbags is one move I wasn't aware they were trying, it all sounds a bit desperate to me and I think we might be due some less than favourable news soon about the results.

If that is true, I'm not surprised the board (as the majority shareholders) are participating in the buy-back, it does come off looking a bit like a pump and dump strategy though. I'm inclined to dump before the pump runs out of juice but I'm still sitting on a sizeable loss even accounting for that (not the first time in my dealings with this company either, it must be said).

The 25p valuation TX2 places on this sounds closer to the mark, but I think that might look optimistic soon too. You'd have to conclude they wouldn't be pulling these strokes if business was going well. Given that William and Rupert both have city backgrounds, it does look like a bit of an investment banker's PR stunt to allow them and theirs to frank bough while they still have the chance. Best of the Best soars on buyback offer
By Arash Massoudi

Best of the Best said it would return up to £1.2m in cash to investors through a 16.7 per cent share buyback on Friday. The news sent shares in the Aim-quoted company up as much as 122 per cent to 39p.
The UK-based company displays and raffles luxury cars in busy locations, such as airports and shopping centres. The 6:1 tender offer at 63p will give loyal shareholders a chance to recover a portion of their losses at Best of the Best’s initial offering price.

The company said the decision was made because it had “significant cash reserves.” William Hindmarch, its chief executive, owns 54 per cent of the company’s shares and plans to participate in the buyback.
Last October, the company reported that BAA, the airport operator and a former minority shareholder, had ended all existing contracts in Heathrow airport to provide travellers more space for seating.
Since then, the company has tried to introduce a variety of products such as watches, handbags and Apple products for its raffles that are less capital intensive and cost less to display.
The company said on-line turnover now makes up 30 per cent of its business and it has a distribution list of 400,000.

Best of the Best (BEST), the company that offers luxury cars as prizes in airport terminals has carried out a tender offer at 63p a share.

The AIM-quoted venture made the offer through its broker Charles Stanley that will see it buy back one in every six of its shareholders shares at a price of 63p, a premium of 68 per cent to the current price of 37.5p. Best of the Best will pay out a maximum of £1.18 million to its shareholders.

The group maintains the offer has been carried out as it has been 'cash generative for a number of years and has benefited from a strong balance sheet with significant cash reserves', furthermore the exit from Heathrow resulted in a return of cash, both from the refund for capital expenditure, and due to a reduction in the number of cars on display.

In addition to announcing the tender offer, Best also provided a trading update in which it noted it will be reporting a loss as a result of losing its site at Heathrow last October.

Furthermore as a result of what it described as the 'restructuring of the company's principal supercar competition to incorporate 'lower entry points' Best said it had secured 'new opportunities' in locations such as Westfield Stratford and Westfield White City.

Growth Company Investor last recommended shares in Best of the Best last July at 28p and they fell to 17p before the announcement of the tender offer. The group is recovering from the loss of its Heathrow site - a prime asset for the company - while expansion through offering non-supercar promotions at locations such as Stratford Westfield continues. Speculative buy.
