The Aussie dollar has been doing well against the pound and they've just signed a deal with EZ Corp to effect some serious expansion. So it doesn't add up. By Eggbaconandbubble

There was an RNS issued about earnings in Australia which may impact profit although nothing decided yet.
Perhaps market makers lowering price in anticipation of sellers?

Gold reaches another all time high!

Great news for pawnbrokers inc. Cash Converters - particularly positive too for Albemarle & Bond, whose results are out on 28th....

Pawnbrokers are still able to charge the same % rate as when gold was $1,000 lower - but are now able to lend so much more, securely...

Sooner or later the market will wake up to this and revalue pawnbrokers including CCVU
Good luck
---------------

LONDON (ShareCast) - Gold hit a record for the fifth straight day after indications from the Federal Reserve that extra stimulus measures would be employed if the US economy continues to struggle sent the dollar tumbling.

Interest rates were left at just above 0% and the Fed said it expects the recovery to continue, but added "the pace of economic recovery is likely to be modest in the near-term."

Interest rates have been held at this level since December 2008 and the Fed again said they would stay at an "exceptionally low levels" for an "extended period."

If conditions worsen, though, the Fed said it is prepared to "provide additional accommodation" in order to "return inflation" to slightly higher levels.

Gold for immediate delivery rose to a record $1,291.05 as the dollar fell sharply against other major currencies. Falls in the dollar encourage investors to switch to gold as it is seen as a safer investment in uncertain times.

Some analysts expect gold to continue rising past the $1,300 level.

BNP Paribas has raised its estimates for gold prices given what it sees as the increased likelihood of quantitative easing in the US. It now sees an average gold price of $1,200 and ounce this year and $1,290 in 2011.

Gold reaches all time high!

Good news for CCVU (as well as Albemarle & Bond) - means more money from pawnbroking and gold buying...

-----------------

LONDON (ShareCast) - Worries about the global economy have increased investment demand for gold and pushed its price to record highs.

The gold price went above $1,275 an ounce at one point and is currently trading at $1,273.20 an ounce. The rise has been exaggerated by the weak dollar. Sterling is trading at $1.5574.

Investors are looking for safe havens for their money. Investment funds focused on commodities are also buying.

The market is waiting for Federal Reserve chairman Ben Bernanke’s 2011 growth forecast. It is thought that this will determine whether the US Treasury starts buying up Treasuries again in a move to boost a flagging recovery in the economy.

Economic data has been disappointing and even Europe, where growth data had been relatively strong, is less confident. German think tank ZEW revealed its monthly poll of economic sentiment fell to -4.3 in September from +14 last month. Economists had only expected a slip to +10. The latest figure was the worst since February 2009 and could signal a flattening of the recovery.

All this is leading investors to think that would be better off putting their money into gold.

Gordon Brown was selling Britain’s gold reserves for less than $300 an ounce around one decade ago.

Re: Is anybody out there?!

Today's results are a stunning set of figures, and really bullish and optimistic. And I can see alot of opportunities, especially with the online lending. In the UK, Wonga.com is making a massive push into that area, and it is quite competitive, but also very lucrative.

I suspect the greatest threat right now is expansion that is too quick, which requires management to really make sure they're on their feet. The results are good, but the % increase in pre-tax profit should have been higher than the % increase in revenue, and this is evidence that perhaps costs are not being controlled as tightly as they should.
