Nice and cheap.

Managed to top up this morning at 40p and 41p. I consider this
nice and cheap. My latest information points to EPS 4.6p for
the current financial year, rising to just above 5p next year,
with dividend at 1.7p this year, rising to 1.8p next year (brokers
forecast, source Morningstar).
| intend to hold long term. Feel comfortable here, the Company
is a steady performer and has got money in the bank.

Solid exports and increased demand from telecommunications customers helped boost the half-year performance for industrial computer specialist Concurrent Technologies.
Moreover, orders from defence customers remained surprisingly robust and the group's total order book grew 7 per cent in the period. Managing director Glen Fawcett reckons that budget austerity has yet to make much difference to defence customers, pointing out that "the delays we've seen have mostly been technical, rather than budgetary". Exports were the biggest single factor in these results and now comprise 78 per cent of total sales, mainly to Germany, France and the US.
At present, Concurrent is focused mostly on internal development rather than acquisitions. So research and development spending is forecast to hit £2.6m this year, and the company also plans to increase headcount at its development facility in Bangalore and increase capital spending. The company has already spent money on new milling equipment to boost its mechanical and thermal engineering capability. That comparatively small investment, of £50,000, will shave weeks off the time it takes for new products to be developed.
Broker Cenkos forecasts pre-tax profits for 2011 of £2.9m, giving EPS of 3.6p (£2.3m and 2.8p in 2010).
IC VIEW:
Buy
The share are well ahead of our long-standing buy tip (37p, 18 September 2008). But prospects remain good and it's not inconceivable that the group could eventually become a takeover target. That leaves the shares, trading on ten times Cenkos' adjusted full-year earnings estimate of 4.5p, still worth a punt. Buy. By SpikeyDT

Another set of fine results for CNC. Everything up, apart from debt.
One day, hopefully soon, the market will recognise this little gem. Trouble is it a VERY conservative company. We will most probably have to rely on organic growth rather than any transformational acquisition. With luck the patient investor will be rewarded in due course.

Two To Watch;

Tuesday 26 April 2011

TWO TO WATCH
1. A few weeks back I cited Liontrust’s increased stake at Concurrent Technologies as one to watch. The shares have since jumped from 35p to 42p and continue to attract buyers.
2. Specialist engineering company Corac appears to have a great product in the making, but progress with its compressor technology has been slow. However, three directors have been picking up shares since March, with CEO Phil Cartmell snapping up 125k last week at 18p. The current price is 19.25p.

Aims for recovery (subscription)

I don't mind sharing with this board:

The delay of military contracts proved to be the most intractable problem for Aim-traded computer board maker Concurrent Technologies, and knocked more than £500,000 from last year's operating profits.

Diversification of its client base in now on the cards, but a recovery in some of the company's defence markets could already be under way.
Concurrent has a competitive position as a first-choice partner for Intel products to the defence sector, where its low power-usage products are useful in extreme environments. The company launched eight significant new Intel-based products in 2010 as well as adding new capabilities in the detection of improvised explosive devices.

"We are pleased to note that the recovery in economic conditions within our other markets continues, and with a strong order book, we expect a significant increase in sales in the first half of the current year compared with the same period last year," said Chairman Michael Collins.
Analysts at Cenkos estimate that the company's order book is currently 50 per cent higher than this time last year, which supports their 2011 reported pre-tax profit estimate of £3.1m, giving EPS of 3.8p (from £2.3m and 2.8p in 2010).
