Daniel Stewart - worth 496p - BUY

This update at 496p from Daniel Stewart as of 21 March (previously advising 429p 18/10/2011) now ties in relatively consistantly with current advice from Peel Hunt that the Company is worth 515p.

Daniel Stewart have increased their full year to June sales figures for 2012 and 2013 respectively from £5m to £6.2m and from £5.8 to £7.8m. These uplifts are significant in relative terms being respectively up 24% and 34%. They are also using the less guarded language of 'financially self-sufficient' and 'strong balance sheet' and firmly sticking to their BUY recommendation.

For 'Interim revenues...ahead of expectations' - in my humble opinion read - the company have filled more of the revenue void left by the end of Novartis' income stream than we expected.

For 'well positioned to accelerate the progress of it's pipeline' (of development programmes) - imho read - Genedrive is looking really good for a strong roll-out, Biomarkers are steaming ahead and garnering industry wide interest, and the Company has, off it's own back, at least partly filled the gap left by Novartis with regard to further developing identified 'leads'/novel regulatorsof epithelial tissue in regenerative medicine and oncology.

This aforementioned 'gap' is, again imho, less than one year off being fully filled by either Novartis' return (by Feb 2013 for a decision under the terms of the previous agreement) or by another 'heavyweight partner shortly after the 'decision' expiry period of that agreement with Novartis.

Personalised Medicine is where it's at, and Epistem is, and will continue to be, all over it, with increased and increasing investment in these development programmes.

The strong buy is for the long term as always. By ignateus ignoramus

Imperial College, University of London, has been working in collaboration with ValiRx and is currently carrying out the late pre-clinical development of ValiRx's lead therapeutic, VAL101 with funding awarded from the Eurostars scheme. The company announced that stability and toxicology studies are currently underway. The production of the VAL101 compound is going to plan and has been optimised and simplified, which by extension makes the compound cheaper to produce, thereby adding future value.
Epistem shares could be worth 429 pence each, says Daniel Stewart
2:47 pm by Giles GwinnettThe company will use the net proceeds to accelerate the development and commercialisation of its Genedrive molecular diagnostic device
Broker Daniel Stewart reckons shares in stem cell specialists Epistem Holdings (LON:EHP) could be worth 429 pence each (current price: 362.5 pence).

Rating the stock a 'buy', analyst Vadim Alexandre highlighted last week's announcement, in which the firm said it planned to raise £2.8 million before expenses by placing 793,398 shares at 350 pence each.

The company will use the net proceeds to accelerate the development and commercialisation of its Genedrive molecular diagnostic device.

Genedrive is a diagnostic system that can analyse markers for oncology and personalised medicine applications and is expected to provide a new cost effective approach to the rapid diagnosis of bacterial, viral, fungal and gene mutations.

Clinical trials are underway in various diagnostic sectors including pharmacogenomics, infectious disease and biodefence and successful clinical studies were recently completed in India for tuberculosis.

The device recorded maiden sales revenue in full year 2011 and the company is expecting to see rapid revenue growth of the device and assays next year, said Alexandre in a note.

Epistem focuses its research on adult stem cells that are located in epithelial tissue, which includes the gastrointestinal tract, skin, hair follicles, the breast and the prostate gland. It operates three distinct business divisions: contract research services, biomarkers and novel therapies. By SpikeyDT

Biotech concern Epistem Holdings (EHP) has raised £2.8 million through a placing at 350p a share.

The AIM-quoted biotech - which raised the amount at a discount of 3.4 per cent to the previous day's closing price- noted it is to use the proceeds to 'accelerate the development and commercialisation of its handheld diagnostics 'Genedrive' device. The company enthused it expects Genedrive to provide a 'significant technological advance and new cost effective approach to the rapid diagnosis of bacterial, viral, fungal and gene mutations.'

Last recommended by Growth Company Investor in 2009 at 372.5p the shares currently trade at 362.5p, valuing the business at £28.8 million. A company that has made impressive gains of late, having almost doubled in valued since a 2009 value of 190p the latest placing should bolster its plans for Genedrive. Currently trading at 362.5p the shares look fairly priced. Hold.
