"we do need negotiations , land owners on side"

Well they had better get a move on as events on the ground could easily overtake them! It will be interesting to see what the mining experts from IGME make of the situation they see. The obstruction and delays being caused by the landowners which is delaying essential repairs and maintenance to the Tailings Dams and the selling off of bits of the land to parties who are the same party as the first party (sic!).

It will also explain why certain 'information' was not been submitted to the Junta and why the Junta allowed these reports to be submitted to Madrid. The alternative being to simply grant AS. By sloworm

@Sloworm, good colour . It is clear that the theme no news is very good . Everyone is very busy @ ground level . However, we do need negotiations , land owners on side. Taking shares, but at a higher price , 15p would be correct ... stock will trade towards mid 20p if deal with land owners.

Re: questions

Mr O many thanks have forwarded your questions on.

There seem to be some interesting 'goings on' locally. The IU Nerva branch posted a statement supporting the restart of the mine on their local website yesterday. Nerva is one of the seven villages surrounding the mine. Also it seems that both the Chinese partners and Goldman Sachs have recently been having meetings with John Leach Finance Director at Rio Tinto. Members of the permitting team have also apparently been having review meetings in Madrid and now it seems IGME which stands for Instituto Geológico y Minero de España have been spotted locally visiting the site and are apparently having meeting with Rob Williams GM Development.

So I guess that answers Frogboys question. By sloworm

questions

Questions

1. Is there active dialogue with landowners
2. Could you say if these discussions are more constructive than before
3. Are you confident these talks can be resolved before legal route is taken
4. How pro active is the local junta being post elections ? are they showing the same urgency as per election pledges ?
5. PSOE aside, what feedback if any are you getting from the IU
6. Documentation, we keep hearing from the administrative side that this is not complete, where do we now stand ?
7. Should we expect that documentation requirements will be ongoing ?
8. We were pleased to see that Slovakia advancing, will you be slowly ramping up resources on this project ?
9. Any copper update for Cyprus.
10. Any feedback from two new partners, Chinese and Goldman ? How have they reacted to recent news flow ?
11. Cash burn ? Is the balance sheet solid enough to see project through to AS on current timetable or small delay ?

Re: North American contact

Shark thats a long question for me to ask. Sometimes less is more. Perhaps the landowners should reflect on that too!

I think the comments related to the landowners price coming down to more relaistic levels. After all they acquired the land for just 2.8m euros and were reported to be asking 60m+. Yet the company has had independant valuers asses what the land is worth and I believe that the figure is now probably south of 1m euros. Plus the landowners have incurred costs for the maintenance and repair in proportion to the amount of land owned which probably exceeds this figure. So far from being an asset the Tailings Dams are a liability that keeps on getting bigger and bigger. Bit like a black hole consuming everything around it.

The point that you make about the project timeline is what I have been saying for a long time. Despite the Minister announcing publicly that the Junta supported the company timetable they have held back from granting AS. Whatever excuse they/you make we all know that it has nothing to do with the all the other permits that are required. The consequences of failing to grant AS by Q1 2012 does mean that if the landowners continue to hold out for an unrealistic price the creation of jobs will be delayed by 12 months. I have just been skyping with 'one of the protestors' that I got to know who camped outside the gates because he wants a job and is getting fed up with 'silence and delay' from all the local politicians on this matter. These are the real assets that are being wasted and it is a tragedy in my opinion. They are good decent and honest people.

If you want to quote company information and then opinionate on it to attack the company then what do you expect? I have challenged you to come up with credible alternative sources of information that has been published by the Junta but I think you will have some difficulty because there is none. However the company has complied with every request put to it by the Junta. Even if some of the things said by various people (look back over what has been said) has been lacking in substance and mostly been just political posturing justifying or defending of their position.

The point you made about engineering skills seems to avoid the fact that any engineering reports have to be fowarded to Madrid because the administration officials do not have the technical skills or competence to assess the feasibility of such a project. This is not a criticism of the Junta it is just a statement of fact. However the fact that they sent engineering reports to Madrid in January this year but in April it was reported that they had still not paid the invoice to process the report suggest that someone is playing petty games with an important project when the country needs projects like this to create jobs and generate wealth for the country. You only have to talk to a few people to realise that public sector jobs are secured not on the basis of what you know but who you know.

People deserve better in my opinion. By sloworm

Re: North American contact

Hi Sloworm
In recent press / the analysts reviews they stated that discussions have come down to "more realistic levels" and talks have again, from what was stated, started again. It would be good to get more details on that, if things have changed, or if its just again the Junta asking for talks. I mentioned shares for the land a few weeks back so good people are realising its not "dilution" as its for an asset. I vote in favour for it, most definately. Even if we have the landowners as part of the shareholders. Its a win win.

Note further in the recent presentation the timelines were moved. We now have "2012" for permitting and the Gnatt chart has been pushed out to Q4 (see presentation). BFS seems also to have slipped a few months. It be good just to clarify if indeed the "Q3" target is still in place for the permit packages. (He also only has 6 months for land, which if it goes the snail route, surely its more like 9 - 12?)

In regards to your psit last week, again, you are the best poster and most knowledgeable - so it wasnt meant to annoy anyone. But you are extreamly biased to the company and their literature. EMED Engineering has still lacked the details needed, and the BFS hasnt even been completed, thats what ive read from the firm and the public statements. So I just believe both sides of the story. Regardless I have a major shareholding, so I want this to work as much as the next man. And appreciate everything you do for the board. Certainly bound to see you at some presentation at somepoint. So I buy you a beer. The "engineering is s***" I deserved the kick for that.

Note Yoda yesterdays rally, 90% sure that was the general mining rally post the China comments the day before that they will push stimulus in stages to fuel growth. Thus the 3+ week commodity decline was massively spurred on, led by the Asian markets. Thus that pushed heavy investments back in a knee jerk buying spree. Heck some media comments have been extreamly doom and gloom, China expands "only" 8% and now small miners have been in some compared to dot.com stocks - stating many will fail. Its total poppy*** but just shows the doom mungers and press love hammering and kicking the commodity market when its down. Ultimately still kicked up EMED out of sink, but seems today its shaved that down.

Boring week ultimately. Some cheap holidays in Greece mind. By Shark____

Re: Does anyone know what's going on?

As to the lack of info coming from EMED, the Spanish Press, and the junta, it seems probable to me that there is genuine work going on to progress the project. Not a peep from the landowners, Runbo et al.

I'm of the view that no news = good progress and that the landowners are fully aware that they have limited time to get what they can out of EMED. That's not to say that the junta would be far more comfortable were there to be an agreement before they pass permits & grant AS.

That being the case, I don;t expect much news for a while. It's in EMED's interest to delay settling with the landowners as they will see expropriation drawing ever closer under which we are to assume that the landowners are likely to get very little, or even be in net debt to EMED.

I do like the idea of a settlement based on EMED shares at today's price but only exercisable when the mine is up and running, or in say 2 years. Win-win as SW says for EMED and the landowners, and also win for the junta.

I expect shares to continue to be volatile - end of US correction or dead cat bounce?
Not sure.
