I don't know the exact rules, but directors are not allowed to deal in shares prior to the release of information like results (because they know what is coming.) So they weren't allowed to buy at £4. Of course they did not sell at that price either, presumably because they weren't allowed to.
Their purchases as soon as they were able should be reassuring to holders and potential buyers. By Hardboy

just a thought

Price sensitive information released on Wednesday, it was a no brainer that the effect will lead to a massive drop in the share price. The CEO, Chair man, and the CFO have now bought large quantities of shares at the price of £3.14 and £3.21 respectively. What do you call that? Why did they not buy the shares prior to Wednesday when the shares were trading at £4.00 ?

There should be laws preventing this. By Dummy trader

I've done no analysis to support this, but my observation is that genrally overbuying and overselling is getting further and further from fair value than it ever used to be. This makes sense as there seems to be an increase in shorting, an increase in use of leveraged products, and a great use of technical analysis.

For those of us more reliant on fundamental analysis this should give us greater scope to buy on the cheap & sell high. (Which doesn't make it any easier to call tops & bottoms.) By Hardboy

Re: Are we heading to £3

I've not done any analysis to support this view, but the feeling I get from observing different companies is that the over sold/over bought extremes in general are getting further and further from fair value. i.e. share prices react to some news and then the momentum keeps that reaction going further and further than it ever used to. I suspect this is due to a greater use of shorting, geared trading products, and technical analysis.

Just an observation, but it does give those of us more reliant on Fundamental Analysis greater scope for getting in cheap & getting out dear. By Hardboy

A bit harsh and you are entitled to your opinion but I am quite comfortable with my post.

I will give Alexander Elder a miss thanks as my mind is already well fed and I'm sure his bank account is similarly already well fed with gullible buyers of yet another 'guru's book on investment strategy. In fact he seems to have read my post before developing his 'Elder Impulse System' and I see he is also big on shorting.
I think your choice of name 'greedie's' and mine 'shabby' say's it all really about our approach to life and investing.

£3 is the right price IMO - this is where it has hovered for 2 years on flat growth. You saw it coming, sales flat despite the long winter (apparently a positive that made the share price rise 25% to 400p) - but 6% rise in cost base due to inflationary pressure has battered the dividend - people like dividend growth. Holding is fine as the divi is still average, but dont expect miracle with SP growth for years. Just glad i sold at 400p. DYOR IMVHO By superleeds80
