Re: Trading Statement

nettle124 mate we now have a classic chart breakout. The resistance level of £1.76 has been breached. If we hold above this level for a week or so we could see the £2 level within a month/shorterm.Only flaw is that the upward channel is around a 45 degree angle,a" bump and run",this means we could just as easily go splat within a couple of weeks. However throw into the mix that fundamentals are getting better and punters are not winning as nuch as the past 3 years,a decent div,I would say the odds are begining to favour shareholders.......
Re: Trading Statement

Rada,

good to see your optimism. I feel a bit wary about more upwards price movement. I dont like the way that the directors overpay themselves, and in general directors are becoming more brazen when it comes to appropriating shareholder funds via pay. The government should introduce a law to only allow voting on shares, by the owner of the shares, not the controller of the shares as at present, or else this malaise will get worse.

That said, it was a good performance and things are going well. I just hope the directors can bring that debt down a little bit more. By nettle124

I think it will get better,I have a £2-£2.50 price in the medium/long term.Punters are trying to gamble their way out of the recession, everytime theres been a majoir football tournament in the past 15 years the sp has reached at least £1.80 and usually averages out around £2.25ish,got a nice little upward channel formed and a nice div to boot.
The punters took a beating on the national as well,80million was the figure touted on bets placed the night before,I wonder how much Lads got of that? By Radaking

i would anticipate richard saying he is resigning.
I am afraid whilst he is typical ladbrokes, cautious and thoughtful(like Cyril Stein) he has cost lads a bucketful of cash and even though he was probably right in not going for SBT, the booby of his career thus far must be, walking away from 888.
This error means Lads will miss out on the opening of the American online market which is looking increasingly likely sooner rather than later.

Tax on Gaming machines

A timely warning from Pontins but not as bad as at first sight.

The 20% tax replaces a licence duty (+vat) which was about 16%. The bottom line will suffer (according to analysts) by about £12m - £13m for Ladbrokes and Hills - probably no more than short priced horses filling the top four places in the Grand National.
150p will be a buying opportunity in anticipation of better days ahead when on going changes and cost cutting are implemented later in the year. By Enthusiast

HQ relocation?

Those of you keeping an eye on increasing costs may be interested to note that it is reliably rumoured LAD is considering a potential relocation of its HQ offices (approx 83,000 sqft) from Rayners Lane, NW London to somewhere close to Harrow and the M40, and apparently looking for about 100,000 sqft.

Those of us that have visited LAD's existing HQ Imperial House (Rayners Lane) on business, will know how difficult it can be to find a parking space. At least the space is cheap, thanks to a shrewd move by the property people some years ago. Whether LAD'll find it just as inexpensive elsewhere remains to be seen.

If they do go then it'll clobber retailing in Rayners Lane again, just as it did when Avon Cosmetics moved of of Imperial House before LAD leased the building.

(I'm not a shareholder in LAD; conflict of interest)
