10yr t-bond..

i opened my spread bet account for the first time in a while yesterday and noticed they now offer 10yr t-bonds as a trading instrument.

The t-bonds are lumpy but do trend nicely so they aren't bad to trade.

This game is all about trends and momentum imo so its a good chart to have up amongst the charts you scan to look for entries when she is trending. She is currently trending nicely up and looking to equal the recent all time high. Chart is a volume chart not time but shows the channel nicely. Im currently short however due to a pattern at the top of the channel. im short with an sb and nicely in profit, not entirely sure why im using the sb (futures offer a much tighter spread) just nice to keep the account active i guess.

re:GBP,pfizer.. trans..

Hey guys,

apologies for not being in touch much.. was in london last weekend. Had a lovely time.. 3-4 days london is great - no need to live there unless u work in an office there. Moving home and country is hard work. So many things to sort out so im plenty distracted at present still unable to positional trade effectively really, able to day trade a little, but watching sterling like a hawk.

GBP,euro, no action yet. No strong moves since last week. As shes in the range it would be wrong to draw conclusions from these micro moves. Waiting but hedging futures at the ready.

Im still long rdsb.. there is the hope of a breakout but the prob is with the trend.. its a better than a free trade for me with 2/3rds booked so ill hold a while longer.

The equity longs in pru and av are suffering at present. I dilluted av and took some profit out.. i didnt get a chance on pru so shes showing a loss at present. Watching both charts. Pru close to a channel bottom.. Others fine.

Index wise and commodities ill try and do a post in next few days.

Just while i remember, i mentioned pfizer a while ago for the main reason of it being a good home for your dollars if u traded out of sterling while she was strong against the dollar.. ie holding dollars in cash yields 2% whereas pfizer yields more like 6% depending on your entry. Holding dollars was a good idea when sterling was 2 dollars hence the trade. I put the chart up here as i wanted to show the 'step out' of the channel which often shows an oversold issue, final blow out for the shorters before the down channel gets a real challenge and often a break down of that trend. I have no idea if pfizer is about to shoot up out of this very strong weekly down channel but the odds are for a breakout due to this phenomina of step outs.. the trade was a goodie in any case..

http://img390.imageshack.us/my.php?image=pfizerup9.jpg

all the best

Rich
p.s. bus, sorry ill add it to the list.. im struggling with time management at present. By Prestonni

Re: Woolies

Woolies is such a difficult call! Fundamentals and technicals say down yet its a good 'bet' with a low risk high potential reward, imo. Hardly moving up yet but I'm in on the March contract so play the waiting game.

Cut half my FTSE short at close, sitting on the gold position, think it's got big potential. The central banks, etc, have been telling us to buy dollar sell commodities for months now, they have had their way! Allthough they are the biggest of the big players in the market I can't see it lasting - no reasoning here though! Commodities are still in a long term, 20yr, upwards cycle imo, if i'm lucky enough to get in at a good price it could motor on ....

Lovely timing on the Topps trade SAHD, probably time to close out and take profit. Someone had RMV as well? Sweet!

Good luck, Matt,

Re: gbp.. bad day at the office..

the story isnt over yet. Im waiting for proof (as this is a medium term trade rather than a day trade) and still dont have it yet. To see sterling nearly back to 127 is good news. The buyers are back and pushed over the sellers momentarily. The battle isnt over so lets see.. i dont have a chart at present but back tonight will post over weekend for anyone interested.

Sterling fighting back in the range is all we can say. These are crucial days and this is an interesting tussle between the buyers and sellers. My money is on a break out in the short term to the north but these are testing moments. I will reverse if the chart demonstrates the move. Post the breakout down she will go so i wont hold these for too long.
