You're very lucky then my friend! Most of my holdings (which I consider to be solid, long-term investments) have taken a pasting in the last week or so!

I wouldn't be too concerned, unless you were looking on making a quick £. I'm confident that prospects for good companies will improve, but these are difficult times, markets are so erractic etc etc. Patience is key for me.

Good luck

A chic performance

From todays IC online

A chic performance

High street retailer Moss Bros (TIDM: MOSB) has not only returned to profitability as I predicted in late February, but the small-cap company also managed to beat analyst estimates by reporting adjusted pre-tax profits of £900,000 for the 12 months to end January 2012. The good news gets better as a return to the dividend list means shareholders will receive a 0.4p a share payout on 16 August (ex-dividend: 11 July).

Importantly, the turnaround in the business is firmly on track as underlying sales are already up 6 per cent in the first seven weeks of the new financial year and this follows on from an impressive 12.5 per cent rise in underlying sales in the prior 12 months. This progress has not been lost on investors as shares in Moss Bros have soared 30 per cent to 51p since I advised buying at 39.5p a couple months ago (Dressed for success, 20 February 2012). However, strip out a healthy £23m cash pile from the company's £46m market value and the business is still being valued on a miserly three times broker Peel Hunt’s current year cash profit estimate of £7.1m. That gives ample scope for the re-rating to continue and I am raising my fair value estimate to 60p a share to provide us with a further 18 per cent of potential share price upside.

Moss Bros returns to profits and dividend list

from IC

Moss Bros returns to profits and dividend list
By John Hughman, 29 March 2012

Moss Bros chief executive Brian Brick pointed to easing conditions on the high street after the suit specialist returned to profits a year earlier than expected. The achievement was marked with a return to the dividend list and, with the recovery still in its early stages, shareholders should keep buying in anticipation of further improvement to come.
Not that Moss Bros is in any hurry to give back too much of its swelling cash pile just yet. Mr Brick said the strength of its balance sheet – net cash is worth 25p a share – was an important comfort factor in building up its direct sourcing capability, letting Chinese manufacturers know that it will be able to pay its bills. Management estimates that a third of its suits could be sourced in this way by next year, which will help improve margins further still. Some of the cash will also be used to give its stores a makeover in the coming years – Mr Brick said the new format put in place at the 10 new stores opened this year is helping Moss Bros improve its image and attract new customers. An overhaul of its ranges also helped drive a 12.5 per cent increase in like-for-like sales.
Broker WH Ireland expects current-year adjusted EPS to treble to 1.6p.
This year's sporting calendar won't help Moss Bros much, but the foundations have been laid for a long-term recovery. The shares have shot up 25 per cent since Simon Thompson advised buying at 39p (Dressed to kill, 20 Feb 2012) and remain a buy.

Not too late (I hope)

I have come rather late to the party here, but with almost half the market cap in cash, the ratio of sales to enterprise value still looks very attractive to me. At worst I can see limited downside, but if they can maintain recent impressive sales trends, then there is still scope for a significant rating improvement IMHO. By Omaha man

I have previously held these in the 20s. They seem to be making progress and I have bought some again today just under the 40p mark. They are well up on that purchase already. I enjoy making cash for pressing a few buttons so the past hour has made me happy.

I like to reward a company that has made me cash so I will no doubt hire something from mosb at some point.
