I presume that you backed the draw because the price was much higher than it should have been with only five minutes to go. That alone should have warned you that something might be wrong! Had no further goal be scored then you would have won and you would have expected to be paid out.
money stolen

dont use paddypower for inplay live betting and don't buy shares in this disgraceful company. They've basically just stolen money from me. They offered a price on a live in play football game that according to their live clock had five minutes to go... turns out the clock was wrong.. quite a bit more time was left in the game.. enough for me to lose the bet as a goal was scored after I placed my bet which meant I lost.... they have admitted the error but are refusing to void my bet... how dishonerable can you get... so be careful!!
High enough

Paddy Power is a great company, managed by the best there is. Last time I wrote about irrational cycles this share fell as predicted, then, as it always does, flew back up. Now the current price of €42.45 is really predicting the best possible result for the year, so I expect we will again now see some downward pressure (probably down to €35) before we sail up to €45. The ability to harness new technology has been the major theme for all bookmakers this year. Mobile betting has grown hugely as smart phone technology has improved, but few players have made better use of this new opportunity than Ireland-based bookmaker, Paddy Power, whose online revenues now make up 82 per cent of the group's operating profits.
Online profits were boosted by favourable football results, but gross win was still 28 per cent higher at €143m, which drove operating profit up 25 per cent to €45.3m. A series of marketing campaigns and refundable bet offers helped boost the number of active customers using the online service by 48 per cent to 704,000.
However, the downturn has affected bookmakers' retail operations and Paddy Power's bricks-and-mortar betting shops have been affected by the economic situation in Ireland, as well as a punter's Cheltenham festival. Even though Paddy Power shops are more profitable in Ireland than their rivals, retail income there fell 8 per cent, causing a 44 per cent slump in operating profits from €9m to €5.1m. The UK retail operation made up part of the shortfall, helped by shop openings, and reported operating profits rose €1.7m to €4.7m. Finance director Jack Massey said the company would continue with its rollout of UK shops, but also noted the progress that rivals such as William Hill have made in improving their online offering.
Broker Investec forecasts full-year EPS of 180¢ (169¢ in 2010), rising to 200¢ in 2012.

Irrational cycles

Paddy Power is without doubt the most innovative of all the bookmakers and the one who has consistently achieved growth. I have no doubt that with their excellent management team, PP will continue to outperform their rivals. Historically though, their share price has suffered, for no rational reason, significant downward spirals before climbing back to where it should be. From a high of €37.50 a few days ago the share price has fallen back steadily to €34.90 as I write. We may be in another downward spiral, so this might be the time to sell. Obviously it is impossible to know where the bottom is but in the past the share price has fallen back €10, before gaining even more. If only rational people played the stock market! Investor day highlights; plenty left in the tank
02 June 2011
Simon McGrotty
Closing Price: 3601c Rating: Outperform 30/06/09
FACTS: On June 1st, Paddy Power held a very successful investor day in London focusing on the group's online business in the UK and Ireland, 'paddypower.com'.

ANALYSIS: Presentations were focused on five key areas: online marketing, online product development, online operations, sportsbook and eGaming. Presentations were made by the managers from each area. The key take-aways from the day were as follows:

The quality and experience of the employees: In each presentation, emphasis was placed on employees' educational attainment and work experience in a range of the largest and most innovative multinationals. There was a genuine sense that Paddy Power was striving to ensure that its employees are best in class, either through external recruitment or internal career development.

Willingness to adapt new technologies and techniques: This may be most evident on the technology side through the group's advances in the areas of mobile and in-running betting. However, in terms of online marketing, a wide variety of techniques are used to ensure that the products and brand are promoted in the most efficient manner and cost-effectively. Through the use of pay-per-click (PPC), search engine optimisation (SEO) and affiliate marketing, Paddy Power can continually monitor the cost of acquisition per customer against the expected lifetime value of the customer, ensuring that customers are recruited in the most cost-efficient way.

Innovation: The internet is evolving and in tandem, so is the online gambling industry, Paddy Power is striving to be at the forefront of development, helped by the quality of its human and technological capital. Continued innovation helps improve the overall level of customer experience, something that is at the heart of the group. As the company puts it, Paddy Power does not provide a service, it provides an experience.

Passion and strive to be the best: It was clear that nobody in the business is happy to rest on their laurels or past successes. The company has an ethos to continually strive for more, improving its technology and customer experience to the benefit of the group as a whole.

Scope for further growth: We left the investor day with a renewed confidence about the opportunities for future growth, but also in management's ability to execute on these opportunities. The growth opportunities online are numerous, be they the scope to further expand the mobile offering or to target the 86% of UK online gamblers who do not yet bet with Paddy Power. Management acknowledged while there is no silver bullet for growth, it is their aim and strategy to position the group as best as they can to exploit every opportunity as it arises.

DAVY VIEW: The investor day included a number of very impressive presentations. What came across clearly was the passion, drive, expertise and experience within the group and also the confidence of managers in the ability of their departments to continue to contribute to the growth of paddypower.com. A significant investment has been made in recent years in all areas of the business, and we have no doubt that while this has helped drive growth to date, there is plenty of left in the tank for future growth.

Looking good people...

This from another Shares board. - Happy days people, glad I stayed in...

Paddy Power profits soars
Date: Monday 07 Mar 2011

LONDON (ShareCast) - Irish bookie Paddy Power accompanied record results in all divisions last year with a 28% dividend hike.

The firm produced record turnover of €3.8bn in 2010 and operating profit of €104m, while pre-tax profits rose from €67.2m to €104.2m.

UK Retail operating profit increased almost six-fold from €1.3m to €7.4m. Irish retail operating profits by 8% to €17.6m. Online operations generated €250m of gross win and €75m of operating profit. Operating profit growth of €26m comprised paddypower.com growth of €12m and Australian growth of €14m.

"The year [2011] has started well. Turnover growth and sporting results have been strong, notwithstanding Australia being affected by severe adverse weather. Sportsbook amounts staked are up 16% and total gross win is up 38% in the first two months. This reflects the strong momentum in the Group, as well as a weak 2010 comparable. The group looks forward to 2011 and beyond with confidence," chief executive Patrick Kennedy said.

The dividend for the year rises by 28% to 75c.
