After reading this I found they have been pretty accurate, the single negative I had was the following.

"The company’s systems are currently mainly available on platform wellheads, but with the right level of investment, it could also have subsea applications. In any case, van Bilderbeek, who still owns 75pc of the business, is hoping BP’s Deepwater Horizon rig blowout in the Gulf of Mexico will affect a “step change” in the industry that could make aggressive lobbying of API redundant"

Does Mr van Bilderbeek still hold 75% of the company or has his share been diluted during rights issues?

Re: The API Issue

Nothing but good news from this company. I have jumped into this on the back of that RNS as the market has just exploded, which now bodes well for the high PE. I want to add more as this is now one of my less risky casino stocks. I am waiting for pull back which is not happening. Any thoughts on short term price targets would be appreciated. I think I should wait for divi to be paid and add a few then. I must say that I expect more large contract wins to be announced. Decisions decisions... By infosafe

The API Issue

I dug this article out again from July 2010 as I think it highlights just how important the last but one RNS actually was to Plexus. As ever gone unnoticed but it's significance should not be underestimated to the future of Plexus and it is no surprise that off the back of this achievement we shortly follow up with a contract win from a company dealing with high pressures in their wells. The API will speed up the growth of Plexus and should protect it going forward too. Wish I'd bought more a while ago but still happy to add at this level as the market cap still seems a bargain to me for what we have here.

http://www.telegraph.co.uk/finance/businessclub/7912500/Experts-views-on-Plexus-Holdings.html

Plexus asset value is intrinsically linked to its proprietary Pos-Grip technology, so it must ensure that this technology, and any subsea improvements to it, are properly protected. It needs to ensure that its patent portfolio stands up to validity challenges; the claims are strongly worded to prevent competitors coming up with 'design arounds'; and it covers the countries in which Plexus, its potential licensees and any third party may wish to exploit the technology in. All of this should be backed up with an appropriate enforcement strategy.

The problem Plexus has in the US is that it is unlikely to have the sufficient resources to engage the regulators alone and the 'shelf-life' of its patents may not allow Plexus to take advantage of any future legislation changes. While its short term strategy could be to simply concentrate on markets where it’s already recognised by local standards agencies, if Plexus wishes to enter the US market, it could try and licence its technology without API approval to a wellhead manufacturer or an oil company that is well known in the US (pushing the safety benefits in light of the BP disaster). The licensee, who should be in a better position to negotiate with API, would be obligated to assist Plexus in doing so with royalties being payable once all regulatory expenses have been recovered.

Craig Robinson, Edinburgh Business School

While current political conditions in the US oil industry present many oil producers and service companies with a clear threat to their operations, for Plexus they provide a clear opportunity. There is another factor in the company’s favour : the Pos-Grip technology is already in use in other parts of the world and is increasingly recognised as superior to traditional technologies in terms of cost, safety and performance. The safety aspect of the technology should not be underestimated – many production companies would be keen to find and install safer wellhead technology to pre-empt any possible regulatory changes.

Given the small size of the company and the resources under its command some kind of joint venture or licensing agreement is the clearest way forward. The leverage of a large oil services company or even one of the majors could also assist in getting approval at the API.

If Mr van Bilderbeek’s objective is to launch the Pos-Grip technology for wider application across the oil and gas industry, he needs to address the problem with the API as soon as possible. They are the largest hurdle to wider application of the technology, given that many emerging markets use API standards. It makes sense to aggressively pursue API approval now rather than waiting for regulations to change in the wake of the oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico; there is no sense in waiting for changes that may never happen.

Re: Bowleven Rns

Evening f32 and Tess Ma Dog,

Bought into Plexus in Jan and Feb 2012 following the announcement of Tullow's involvement with Plexus. I have a substantial and long-standing investment with Tullow and I have found that any company that associates it's self with Tullow is a strong recommendation to me.

I did lots of research into Plexus before investing and came to the conclusion they will be a first class long term investment.

They appear to be at the cutting edge of well head technology which augers well for the future. They are also involved with some big hitters in the oil business , Gaz de France, Suez, Centrica, Shell, Maersk and of course Tullow.

Plexus have recently increased their profits and also slightly increased the dividend which indicates that as a small company they are heading in the right direction.

Given the above I'm sure Plexus will go from strength to strength and could easily become a force to be reckoned with in the oil equipment and services sector.

Carliol

P S, I've referred to this board many times since investing in Plexus and been surprised at the lack of posts. Particularly since the company appears to have so much potential. By carliol

Re: RNS

Shes going to blow!!!!!!!! but not the way you think.

The Company plans to accelerate the roll out of POS-GRIP wellhead equipment as a superior alternative to current technology and for it to become the future industry standard for wellhead design. In particular, the technology has advantages in High Pressure/High Temperature (HP/HT) and Extreme HP/HT (X-HP/HT) oil and gas environments, for which there is growing global demand and where Plexus is being increasingly recognised as the supplier of choice. Importantly, the Company is focussed on extending its proprietary technology into an increasing number of subsea applications. In line with this, in March 2011 the Company launched an initiative to develop a new subsea wellhead design, HGSS™, utilising its friction-grip technology in collaboration with key oil and gas operators and service companies. Royal Dutch Shell, Wintershall, Maersk, Tullow Oil and the UK entity of the world's largest offshore drilling company have joined the initiative to date. The HGSS subsea wellhead design will include a combination of key features never before seen in a subsea wellhead which include being rated to 15,000 psi, 4,000,000 pounds of 'instant' casing lockdown capacity, annulus pressure monitoring and access for 'bleed off' capability to address sustained casing pressure ('SCP') issues which are recognised by the API as a serious industry problem, and rigid metal annular seal technology qualified to match the performance of premium casing. Development is expected to be completed by mid 2013 calender year.
