Green Pioneers: With this gadget, I thee wed:
O’Brien’s company, Sabien Technology, became profitable last year when it achieved sales of £2m. The M2G, the device that captured his attention, reduces energy use by improving the efficiency of gas and oil boilers. Aviva, the insurer, tried it at three sites and found it was able to cut energy consumption by 10%-25%, reducing carbon emissions by 14%-17%.

Re: H1 Profits up 63% !

I read about this company in the Economist a couple of years ago and reckoned they were onto a sure thing. The trouble with most tech start ups is that the idea may be brilliant and the product sound, but much depends on the skill of management to make it work and be profitable.

There are some really stupid ideas around about energy these days and now that Chris Hune is gone perhaps a few drops of common sense might intrude on the energy world. There is no point on massive investments in generating energy, let alone from useless wind power, when tiny Sabien can cut at least fifteen percent off commercial heating and air conditioning systems without the need of a magic wand.

Not too long in the future, someone in Government is going to twig that all those massive buildings in Whitehall, hospitals and government dependees can use something like Sabien to reduce bills, debts and taxes.

Sabien's annual 30% growth or more is great: Doubling income every two years. But can this company cope or contemplate what will happen when it is properly noticed?

That quantum leap is going to require a partnership with someone much bigger. And are they developing something for smaller systems?

I bought too soon, and my 3.7K shares are nursing a loss of £350 at present, but there is no way I am selling. By CashQuack

Positive moves at Sabien

RECENT YEAR END RESULTS: 3rd October 2011
"Looking ahead, our Company has never been stronger or better positioned to capitalise on the increasing demand for our proven energy efficiency technologies. The Group has made a good start to the new financial year and since 1 July 2011 has received purchase orders totalling GBP0.8m, an increase of 38% over the same period last year, all of which will be recognised as revenue in the first half of the current financial year. The size of our business pipeline at c.GBP8.3m is at a record level. We have a high quality customer base which includes many local authorities and blue-chip private and large public companies. These facts plus the level of orders received, which represent to a large extent initial phases of roll-out and which should generate significant future revenues, along with a well-controlled cost base, all enable the Directors to feel very confident about the future. " Alan O'Brien, CEO, 3/10/11

ANOTHER SIGNIFICANT BT ORDER: 7 October 2011
"Sabien, the manufacturer and supplier of M2G, a patented energy efficiency technology, is pleased to announce it has received a further order from Monteray Ltd ("Monteray") for GBP347,000 for M2G installations within the Bt Group plc estate. The total value of the four orders received from Monteray/BT since the start of our new financial period now stands at GBP997,625. The orders received to date will be recognised as sales revenue during the current financial year to 30 June 2012" Alan O'Brien, CEO, 7/10/11

Jack Brennan a prayer

...to every one that has donated, and prayed for his recovery!

Currently, Jack is being assessed for possible surgery to remove the tumour. The prognosis is encouraging as the tumour has not spread to his lungs. He is waiting for a decision if surgery is possible.

Dear posters, friends,

...A sad time has occurred within our family. Our daughter, Loren's partner, Mark Brennan is the dad of Jack Brennan...who's unlucky plight is told to you in this very sad story. I have known Jack since he was 5 yrs old, when Loren met Mark. I only ever saw Jack a few times in the 13yrs that Mark and Loren have been together, the last time being last year when he told us of his trials for Harlequins. Tragedy struck, after a rugby tackle left him with an injured neck/shoulder. After a couple of months of intensive pain and tests, he was diagnosed with 'epepheloid sarcoma', an aggressive rare form of malignant tumour that afflicts young people. Jack's family have been told, that everything is being done to save this young lad's life. His family have had to uproot their lives to get Jack the best specialist in Britain, I promised I WOULD try and get as many people as possible to pray for Jack, he will need it !. Jack is in the best hands possible...BRITAIN'S FOREMOST oncologist in this field, Prof. Ian Judson, The Royal Marsden:
Having suffered with numbness in his neck and shoulders for months, which he put down to an injury, 18 year old Jack now faces a fight against a Cancer which has now spread throughout his body and is inoperable in its present form.
The route was 19.5 miles through the capital, via Westminster Abbey and the Houses of Parliament.
