With all the turmoil in the markets at the moment, one huge positive here is although summit raised a huge sum of cash at a low price, it has been done now and there are no worries of having to find find cash in what is going to be a very hard year for alot of co's.

Fully funded and moving forward.
I sold alot of stocks over the last couple of months but at this low price with cash in the bank , i think this one is a hold for now.

11p target for short term

Summit Corporation – Research update, Results and Placing. Speculative buy with an 11p target price.

Summit Corporation has made further progress with its drug discovery programmes, the firm reporting it has successfully completed formal preclinical development studies on its drug candidate SMT 19969 and that its Phase I Clinical Trial Application for SMT C1100 has been approved by the UK regulatory body. With the group also announcing full-year results and the appointment of a new chief executive officer, we are delighted by the progress that has been made by its key drug programmes and Seglin technology platform during 2011. Moreover, while a £5 million placing at 3p per share has hit the share price, we believe this will be temporary in nature as Summit now enters an important and exciting stage in its development with its leading programmes targeting Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy (DMD) and C.difficile infection (CDI) expected to enter clinical trials in the coming year.

This will be massive

Summit Corp enters an “intense period of development”

Glyn Edwards, CEO of Summit Corp (LON:SUMM), explains to Proactiveinvestors how Summit is able to mitigate the risk presented to investors through its programme of 3 treatment areas. In an intense period of development activity; look for data from the Phase 1 trials for the treatment for Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy by year end, C.Difficile trials should start moving into the clinic, producing data in H1 next year, and the Alzheimer’s programme should show data by year end. Glyn says at that point the commercial milestones should come.

Re: It's ALIVE!!!

Summit Corporation plc
(‘Summit’ or ‘the Company’)
SUMMIT RECEIVES REGULATORY APPROVAL TO ENTER SMT C1100 INTO A PHASE I CLINICAL TRIAL
Oxford, UK, 24 April 2012, Summit (AIM: SUMM), a UK drug discovery company, today announces that its Phase I Clinical Trial Application (‘CTA’) for SMT C1100 has been approved by the UK regulatory body, the Medicines and Healthcare products Regulatory Agency (‘MHRA’). SMT C1100 is a small molecule utrophin upregulator that has the potential to be a universal treatment for the fatal genetic disease Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy (‘DMD’).
The approval of the CTA achieves a milestone as part of the $1.5 million agreement signed between Summit and a group of US-based DMD organisations in December 2011 and triggers a payment of $437,500. The Phase I trial is funded by the Muscular Dystrophy Association, Parent Project Muscular Dystrophy, Charley’s Fund, Cure Duchenne, the Foundation to Eradicate Duchenne and the Nash Avery Foundation.
The double-blind, placebo-controlled Phase I study will be conducted in 48 healthy male volunteers and will evaluate a new aqueous oral formulation of SMT C1100. The study will examine both the safety and tolerability of the new formulation, and whether it can provide consistent levels of SMT C1100 in the blood that non-clinical efficacy studies predict would be required to have a therapeutic benefit in DMD patients. The formulation has been developed so it will be appropriate for use by all patients.
Results from the trial are expected by the end of 2012 and a successful outcome from the Phase I trial is expected to lead to evaluation of SMT C1100 in DMD patients. A drug like SMT C1100 that could treat all DMD patients has the potential to generate annual sales in excess of $1 billion.
"We're extremely pleased that SMT C1100 will now move from testing in vivo to testing in healthy humans" said Jane Larkindale, MDA's Director of Translational Research. "We have good evidence from laboratory studies that this drug's mechanism of action is valid for slowing the progression of this degenerative muscle disease, and we hope that this new trial will show that it can be effectively and safely delivered to humans."
Glyn Edwards, Chief Executive Officer of Summit added: “Our plans to commence a new Phase I trial for SMT C1100 continue to progress well with the necessary regulatory approval now in place. This study represents an important development milestone for this programme with a positive outcome having the potential to add considerable value to this asset, and bring an urgently needed treatment for this fatal disease a step closer.”

It's ALIVE!!!

Phase I Clinical Trial Application ('CTA') for SMT C1100 has been approved by the UK regulatory body, the Medicines and Healthcare products Regulatory Agency ('MHRA').

Please note: this is not from the recent fundraising:
The Phase I trial is funded by the Muscular Dystrophy Association, Parent Project Muscular Dystrophy, Charley's Fund, Cure Duchenne, the Foundation to Eradicate Duchenne and the Nash Avery Foundation.

However note, the 'results expected in Q3' has quietly slipped out:
Results from the trial are expected by the end of 2012 and a successful outcome from the Phase I trial is expected to lead to evaluation of SMT C1100 in DMD patients. A drug like SMT C1100 that could treat all DMD patients has the potential to generate annual sales in excess of $1 billion.

On a personal note - I pray that it works, for the sake of all shareholders and more importantly, for all the poor kids that have a terrible life expectancy.

Fingers crossed. By AffeMoose

Re: CSLT said NO and went up 500%

A YES vote would see an immediate rise in sp, but not by very much, purely due to the uncertainty being removed.

However, the reality will soon set in about how the substantial increase in shares will hold the sp back and combined with the disastrous comment in the first webcast,on the first day , sby the new CEO saying "We HOPE to secure a commercial deal in the next 12-18 months", then people will start selling on the boredom and the sp will drift back. Even the programme updates will only now see half the effect of before..and that wasn't much anyhow!

On the other hand, if we vote NO WITH A SUBSTANTIALLY REDUCED PLACING AND DILUTION the sp will increase immediately and investors will turn up in their droves as they see that the potential will have been almost doubled in the stroke of a brush.

A QUESTION FOR ALL HERE:

1. Would you prefer a YES vote and buy shares at 3p knowing you will immediately halve the value of your future investment in SUMM and substantisally hold back the sp for the next 12-18 months.

2, Would you prefer a NO VOTE WITH A SUBSTANTIALLY REDUCED PLACING AND SUBSTANTIALLY LESS SHARES ISSUED, resulting in an immediate increase in sp and substantially increased profits in the future?

CSLT said NO and went up 500%

mypension - 18 Apr'12 - 08:34 - 12128 of 12138

The arguments here about voting yes seem to be we've been screwed but we have to accpet it because we'll be screwed even more!"
Why has no one commented on the success of the CSLT no vote?
Why would the market lose confidence? The technology is good, funds until Q3 - supportive shareholders who don't want to see their value halved. The share price is likely to go up because we won't be diluted 100%
Yes, there is a chance a no vote could backfire, but a point comes where you have to tell the BOD are there to serve? us. Why did they buy at 3p. Why not issue option at 8 or 9p - in other words pay for success
Has anyone missd the point that the change to the board is likely to be an ADDITION not a reduction?
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

mypension - 18 Apr'12 - 09:06 - 12131 of 12138

It cost £400k to raise £5m! How much more would it cost to let PIs in?
Just like some of us the market is clever enough to see we don't need the funds - even though the BOD says we do.
After the no vote at CSLT (which the BOD claimed would collapse if it didn't do the deal) the sp went up from 0.2p to about 1p!!!!!!

Really?: SHAFTED?

Hi all,

I think there may need to be a bit of challenge here.

Glyn has a long career in the industry, he is not the guy doing the research but the guy doing the management and deal making.

He has got deals brokered in the past. his success should be measured partially in deals, not all in success. I know this sounds contrary, but Biotech is like getting a load of mineral tenements - some hold oil, some do not, no matter how good a geologist you are, you will not know until you explore & survey & drill it for years, it may not have enough to pay, it may have a motherload. Some get lucky, some do not. You could be the best Geologist on planet earth and you still cannot guarantee what you will find.

We are looking at the same thing here - they have a great potential and need research to explore and quantify. Nobody, no matter how good they are, can know how the trials will run. That is why they have trials in the first place. (think drills in the analogy above).

Glyns job is to get cash flow and deals to finance the progress of the trials and work on strategy for the future. I.e. 'if the trials fail, then what?'

he has, in all but explicit words, said in his letter that they made a poor decision, the advisors didn't do their job and that they loused up. They haven't performed in the past and they need to change - but it is done now. It wasn't his watch - so looking forward - he needs to change things and prove some success.

BUT - the success will be dependant on him PLUS the trial results - a binary factor.

If you vote 'NO' - I fear you will in effect be cutting your nose off to spite your face as the price will not recover to old levels. In my mind, if this company is sitting on a cash heap that will fund the next 18 mohths and 3 major milestones the price will go up some. if there is a no vote then the market knows they need cash and will price that in accordingly. Lose: Lose

Damned if you do, damned if you don't.

Sorry to say this, I know you are hurting. But I just do not see how to recover SUMM's value of old from this vote other than bite the bullet and take the hit for X months and pray - PRAY - that the trials are good.

Yours with great respect,
