Q. What type of account can I open?
A. The new Interactive Markets Platform will allow you open a combined CFD and Spot Forex Account and/or a Spread Betting account. Alternatively, you can choose to open just a CFD account, Spot Forex Account or Spread Betting account.
Q. What do I need to open an account?
A. Have your bank details to hand and your passport number, then Open an account
  1. Complete the simple online application; you will be given the opportunity to choose your password.
  2. Fund your account
  3. Once your account is approved, you will receive an email with your account number and log-in

You are now ready to go!

Q. Why do I need to apply for a new account?
A. The Interactive Investor CFD & Spread Betting platform will no longer be supplied by City Index; our new partner is Interactive Markets which is a registered trading name of GFT Global Markets UK Ltd (GFT). As a consequence you need to re-apply for an account and accept Interactive Markets’ terms and conditions.
Q. Who are GFT?
A. GFT Global Markets UK Limited is a UK registered company who are Authorised and Regulated by the FSA. As a world leading CFD, Spread Betting & Spot Forex provider they are a subsidiary of Global Futures and Forex Ltd. Global Futures and Forex Ltd is a US based Spot Forex provider that has been trading since 1997 and has received numerous awards for growth, technology and entrepreneurship.
Q. Can I see the platform first?
A. You can apply for a demo account without obligation. You can also immediately apply for a LIVE account
Q. How long can I use the demo account for?
A. You can use a demo account for 30 days. However, if you open a live account you can also maintain a demo account alongside to practise your trading strategies.
Q. Can I transfer my positions from Interactive Investor CFDs/Interactive Investor Spread Betting to interactive markets?

A. We regret that you cannot transfer your positions from one platform to another.

The Interactive Investor CFD service will be available until 31st December 2010 and the Interactive Investor Spread Betting service will be available until 31st March 2011.

Q. How do I download the Interactive Markets Trader Software?
A. You can download the software here. Please note: The downloadable software may not be suitable for use at work as to use this software you may need to open some ports on your employer’s firewall. Interactive Markets Web is the browser based application that does not require any firewall changes to be made.
Q. What is the Margin Call Policy?
A. For a comprehensive explanation, please refer to Clause 12 of the Interactive Markets General CFD and Spot Forex Terms and Clause 9 of the Interactive Markets CFD and Spot Forex Terms: Deposit Accounts , Clause 8 of the Interactive Markets Spread Terms.
Q. Have the Product names changed?
A. Yes, inevitably the names are different in some cases.

For Example: Wall St is now .US30.cfd
US SP 500 is now .US500.cfd
US Crude is now .WTI.cfd

Q. How do I fund my account?
A. You can fund your account with your credit or debit card by using our secure website.
Q. Can I trade over the phone?
A. Our Dealing Desk is normally open from 22.00 London time each Sunday through to 22.00 London time each Friday, and if you are unable to trade on-line you can of course call the Dealing Desk on 0207 680 3605
