Barclays Appoints Former Citigroup Director As CEO Of International
LONDON (Alliance News) - Barclays Bank PLC on Thursday said it has appointed Barry Rodrigues as chief executive of Barclaycard International.
Rodrigues will be based in New York. He joins Barclays following six years at Citigroup Inc, where he was most recently head of Digital Payments for the Global Consumer Bank.
Before joining Citi, Rodrigues spend over 25 years at American Express Co, culminating in his role as president of Global Network.
"Barry brings a wealth of experience, skill and industry know-how to Barclays and we're pleased to welcome him to the firm. He is a talented and innovative professional who is positioned well to lead our Barclaycard International businesses into the future. Barry will deliver leadership, value and execution for our colleagues and clients as Barclaycard continues to grow at this time of rapid and continual change in the cards and payments industries," said Tim Throsby, president of Barclays International.
Shares in Barclays were trading down 1.4% at 205.75 pence on Thursday.
