Losing so many of their expensive execs would save them a lot of money every month but you have to wonder if they will have any talent left to actually operate the business if they ever do find a customer. Kent Ertugrul is still taking his cut every month and I'm sure the investors don't mind paying to keep him comfortable though a few of them might prefer a little profit for themselves after all this time. This framework must include mobile payments, across Europe, and be built on reliable interoperable systems. The protection of personal data, which come about in such online transactions, and the ability to preserve private information are of major importance to guarantee trust in an online single market. There is a growing concern of citizens about the risks to their personal data and their privacy. Our surveys, studies and also the letters we receive from citizens show that many consumers feel uncomfortable in the online environment. A large number of disadvantaged users are excluded from the knowledge society or their rights are not protected. There are many factors creating uncertainty: intrusive business practices that use personal data without respecting the users' will or even without informing them; losses of personal data due to inappropriate security measures; malicious activities such as phishing and spyware, to name just a few. We do not want to arrive at a point of crisis of consumers' trust in online services. If citizens have no confidence in the digital economy and refuse to participate, this could undermine all our efforts to make the societal and economic benefits of the information society become a reality. Europe has clear principles concerning privacy and the protection of personal data. They are fundamental rights! EU legislation includes very precise data protection rules for electronic communications services which are the backbone of the digital economy. And with the telecoms reform, we are improving and strengthening these rules even further. Better information on personal data breaches, clarified transparency requirements against spyware and malware, improved action against spammers and better enforcement of the rules. The European Parliament made it clear in the debate over the Telecoms Reform that we have to discuss issues such as notification of personal data breaches beyond the telecoms sector. I believe the Commission should look closely at the emerging challenges for privacy and trust in the information society, with a particular emphasis on some of the outstanding issues which were raised during the discussions on the revision of the ePrivacy Directive, such as targeted advertising, convergence, the use of IP addresses and on-line identifiers. and Future Digital Agenda Another privacy concern repeatedly mentioned to the European Commission these days is behavioural advertisement: systems that monitor internet users' web browsing to better target them with advertisements. Now, European privacy rules are crystal clear: a person's information can only be used with their prior consent. Transparency and choice are key words in this debate. The Commission is closely monitoring the use of behavioural advertising to ensure respect for our privacy rights. I will not shy away from taking action where an EU country falls short of this duty. 	Phorm technology is not live anywhere in the world according to Sarah Simon of Phorm. 	About £15 million left in Phorm's coffers, monthly spend £1.1million. No customers and no income. Audit of accounts which are published around June 2010 will require 12 months money in the bank. The harsh unavoidable figures above suggest that by April/May there will be £9 or £10 million which is less than 12 months cash. That looks like bad news to me. And I am reliably informed by those in the e-commerce business that Struan Robertson's comments on Outlaw criticising the proposed new law do not reflect the commercial reality of actually running a productive legal e-commerce site. My contact sees absolutely NO problem in conforming with these new regulations and is someone who makes their living by e-commerce. I'm not convinced by the doom merchants from the BTA industry who are telling us it is the end of the world - or possibly just the end of the internet. Can Kent save us from the EU? 	i am waiting to see the FYR in april next year (assuming they last that long) , to see just how accurate the HYR were, bearing in mind the HYR are unaudited and produced by phorm themselves not a bunch of external auditors taking the accounts apart, i suspect more delays like this year due to phorm taking a while to prove it is a viable going concern to the auditors, so they can sign off the accounts peter More \| View thread (3) \| Respond \| Login to Vote up \| Login to Vote down

	They are living off the money put up by investors. Most of that money is used to pay wages and Phorm is a seriously top-heavy company - hence the £1.1M per month spend when they don't even have any clients to service. It important to bear in mind that the fall in share prices doesn't affect the money that Phorm raised from the sale of those shares. The £15M they took in summer is still worth £15M to them even though the shares are now worth considerably lesst han half of that amount.
