LONDON (Thomson Financial) - Commercial electric vehicles and aerial work platforms maker Tanfield Group PLC said its trading division Smith Electric Vehicles has won a contract to supply 55 electric vehicles to TNT Express for immediate delivery.

TNT Express UK has initially ordered 50 battery-powered Newton 7.5t trucks following a six-month long trial in and around London, which was deployed in TNT's delivery and collection operations.

TNT Express ordered a further five electric vehicles for its first trial in mainland Europe.
