In at the Beginning...........

“As growing numbers of fuel cell products progress towards commercialisation, it is worth noting the relatively quiet revolution in electrolyser technology that has taken place alongside this and which is proving helpful in supporting this progress”

“Electrolysers find three main areas of application within the hydrogen economy: the production of hydrogen as fuel for fuel cell vehicles; the means for grid energy storage and grid integration of variable renewable energy sources; and in autonomous energy systems that allow for independence from the grid and from fossil fuels.”

“And electrolysers in off-grid systems must be robust, low-maintenance, and often – in conventional terms – very small and compact.”

“Significant technological development along these lines has resulted in market-ready electrolyser systems which are being used in each of the three application areas mentioned above. The following examples are from news reported so far this year.”

“Recent partnerships are capitalising on the commercial advantage of offering a ‘one-stop energy solution’ – i.e. a fuel cell product combined with a dedicated electrolyser system to provide fuel. Acta has entered into a ten-year licensing agreement with Heliocentris to be its exclusive supplier of alkaline solid membrane electrolyser products. Heliocentris will then have a license to use Acta’s technology in its products, particularly for stationary clean power applications such as telecom base stations or residential power. Acta has also signed a letter of intent with Horizon Fuel Cell Technologies. Subject to evaluation, Horizon will incorporate Acta’s stacks into its own electrolyser equipment, likely to be used for refuelling of Horizon’s smaller, portable fuel cell products such as the MiniPak.”

Acta & Horizon..........

A good interview with Horizon…………should give a decent idea of the potential for Acta if they can work together.

This is what he says about fuel cell costs…………….“Furthermore, we were able to reduce fuel cell costs dramatically, which has been our most important differentiation factor from other competitors.”……………Sounds familiar

An agreement with Acta should see them dramatically reducing the cost of producing Hydrogen………….moving another step closer to one of their goals……… “We have a vision to put a private zero carbon hydrogen supply solution possibly in every home.”

Re: Just bought in

Well Heliocentris are off to a flyer in 2012, hopefully it will translate into some revenue for Acta on top of the minimum order clause in the agreement.

“Dr. Andras Gosztonyi, CFO of Heliocentris AG commented: 'The year 2011 was on the one hand due the decline in sales and the substantial loss a painful year. On the other hand we achieved the entry into the industrial business thanks to the takeover of P21. The highly scalable business is already visible as incoming orders and sales show. By the end of the first quarter our group accumulated already a sales and order backlog of totalling EUR4.5 million, which is already significantly higher than the entire previous year's sales!'”
News on a successful development outcome with Horizon would be great………….for Horizon to run their own Electrolyser units powered by Acta’s Stacks would be a big tick in the box………..we’ll have to wait and see……………

Just bought in

Thought I'd missed this boat a while back with Acta. A bit surprised, well a lot actually, to see the sp languishing where it is with the potential. A potential that with the current agreements under the belt alone seems to put the company on the cusp of something that would appear imo to warrant a future major rerating. Just hope the agreements (and future ones) come off. Bought in anticpating the market waking up to Acta.

Commercialisation of the Hydrogen

Commercialisation of the Hydrogen market….cars, scooters, off-grid power, stand-alone homes and businesses, gas welding, military applications etc. etc……and the speed with which it progresses, comes down to PRICE at the end of the day.

After P Bert told the nice young lady interviewing him at Hannover last week an idea of Acta’s prices, I asked Acta for clarification

Acta’s 100lhr Electrolyser’s list price is €4500………….comparable products on the market are anywhere up to €15k………….

1 cubic meter system’s list price is €20k……………..comparable products on the market are anywhere up to €60k

Acta’s aim is to sign up with enough companies wanting to produce Hydrogen for their systems, thereby enabling Acta to drive costs down further through higher production levels and then pass on the cost difference to their commercial partners, who it is hoped will pass on the cost saving to their customers……………..the snowball effect …………..that’s basically their business model, higher production of their Stacks installed in others products, driving down costs = more sales in the future because Hydrogen becomes a more and more feasible fuel (commodity).
