Absolutely. Not watching the charts but in terms of timing this spate of bad news on the general market could not have come at a better time for a sneaky little top up prior to H2 launch.....!!

What a number of posters here fail to realise is that, yes, profits may be a little in the future, but by the time it becomes as obvious to them as it is to me, the price will be a lot higher than it is now. NOBODY has suggested that Avanti will miss their profit targets - EVER! Doesn't that tell you something??

Re: Hylas II launching July

Same as for Hylas 1 launch, the co-passenger of Hylas 2 on V208 vehicle will be one Intelsat satellite (IS-20) and scheduled for late July. Works are already began at the launch site in Kourou according to Arianespace: http://www.arianespace.com/news-mission-update/2012/906.asp

"This Ariane 5 will be used for a dual-passenger mission later in 2012 on Arianespace’s fourth heavy-lift launch of the year, which is designated VA208 – for the 208th flight of an Ariane family launcher.

GD632: Good site, thanks.

Judging by the launch logs they seem to like at least 4 weeks between launch's so as VA207 is due 19th June I'd guess we're looking at 2H July. Once VA207 is up we can set out timers.

"Araine 5 last had a failure in 2002 and has 48 successes in a row since then" worry, panic! just to keep up the averages we're due for a failure, I'll board up my windows just in case :-)) By Sidevalve

Re: Hylas II launching July

If HYLAS 2 is launching on an Ariane 5 in July, it'll be on flight VA208. Payloads for this flight have not been announced yet. The rocket is now at the launch site:

http://www.arianespace.com/news-mission-update/2012/906.asp

and that's the website to watch for a launch date announcement.

There is a launch on 19 June and it takes them about a month between launches so second half of July is still on. They should announce a date in the next couple of weeks if they follow their usual pattern.

Re: Get ready to throw the kitchen sink ...

Relief rally, just getting in space will cause a share price bounce, then after that the price will drift off when people realise there’s a couple of years until it become profitable.
I understand the Hylas 2 is going to use the Ariane 5 vehicle, shame as its less safe than the Soyuz and takes the failure rate up to 5%,
http://www.astronautix.com/lvs/ariane5.htm

But none are safe. The insurance would only pay the replacement costs but I doubt protects the loss of income, unless someone can advise otherwise.

rogk: The RSI is too high and the MACD isn't in red enough at the moment for my liking for a bounce, give it a week or two. By Sidevalve

Re: Get ready to throw the kitchen sink @

Why will the successful launch of Hylas II do anything to the shareprice? There might be a small amount of risk to be priced out that the thing blows up on the launchpad, (although, as I understand it, AVN is insured for such an eventuality, it would undoubtedly hit revenue timescales), but surely a successful and timely launch is expected and therefore priced in?
I wasn't here for Hylas I, but surely the subsequent deflation of the hype that surrounded that launch is proof that it's only contract wins and NPV of attributable revenue streams that's going to do anything worthwhile to the share price. Further, the more the launch of Hylas II is hyped on here (among other places) the more of a damp squib it's likely to turn out to be.
