On Aviva I have owned shares since 2008. Currently my average cost is £3.14. Had some good dividends and see this continuing and the price improving.

Questor is not always right, but I do take note of what he says albeit not always acting on his recommendations. Aviva a buy he says today for dividend yield of 8.6% and potential capital growth.

Final results yesterday allayed fears of a dividend cut. I bought in there at £3.47 a few weeks ago. Another share for my LTBH porftfolio. I find following Warren Buffett's philosophy of buying into good sound companies with a consistent increasing dividend paying track record, and holding long term my most successful strategy.

Ducking in and out of shares on day trading and short term holding is not my scene.

Croda's share price has increased tenfold in ten years, fourfold in 3 years,

You could have stood on the sidelines over the last decade and missed a great investment. Whether you have missed the boat now with slower growth remains to be seen. I was topping up a year ago at £16.45 and again in January this year at £19.15. £22.33 this moment 1120 hours.

I have followed the fortunes of the company since the early 1980s, I think the share price then was under 50p but that might relate to earller years, they were subject to takeover talk then, it never happened. I would not buy on takeover speculation as I think the cost to a predator would be too great.

You have to make your own decisions on buying and selling shares, not listen to chatter on iii Boards.
